    3. Cape Breton Deaths February 06, 2009 Friday Duncan Dennis 19, Eskasoni - Duncan Joseph Peter Dennis (Doyle), 19, of Shore Road, Eskasoni, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009, suddenly at home. Born in Sydney, he was the son of Mabel Dennis of Eskasoni and the late Gerald Doyle. He was a member of Holy Family parish, Eskasoni. Duncan was planning a career as an underwater welder and had attended Sydney Academy until 2008. Besides his mother, Duncan is survived by his girlfriend, Leanne Herney, Eskasoni; by a godchild, Tyres Gould; nine brothers, Gerald (Marlene) Doyle, Sydney, Terrance Doyle, Darcy Doyle, both of Surrey, B.C., Perry Dennis (Mary Lou), Paul Nicholas Jr. (Zoe), Joshua Nicholas, Levi Nicholas (Valerie), John (Jill) Nicholas, all of Eskasoni, Michael Dennis, Montreal, Que.; six sisters, Glenda (Jeff) Junta, Andrea (Frank) Dennis, Tabitha (Charles) Googoo, Robin (Weldon) Augustine, Nikkita Dennis (Lewis), all of Eskasoni, Becky (John) Nicholas, Red Bank, N.B.; maternal grandmother, Mary Jane Dennis (Battiste); numerous uncles and aunts; 52 nieces and nephews and seven great-nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by aunt, Elaine Campbell, uncle, Stephen Dennis, cousin, Georgina Campbell and godfather, Milton 'BiBi' Gould. Visitation for the late Mr. Dennis will take place after 7 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 7 at the Gabriel Centre, Eskasoni. A funeral mass will be celebrated Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Church with Fr. Joe Gillis officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery. Born in White Point, he was the son of the late Kelson and Pearl (Fitzgerald) Briand. Winston was a school bus driver for 33 years. He was a fisherman with a special love for sword fishing with his dad. His enjoyments in life were playing guitar, especially with his Uncle Winston Scotty, his many games of darts, 58 and cribbage. His greatest excitement was seeing Montreal beat the Toronto Maple Leafs. Surviving are his wife, Virginia (MacKinnon); son, Travis (Gena); grandsons, Aaron and Mitchell; daughter, Nadine Jackson (Vern); granddaughter, Emily; sisters, Donna Cox (Howard), Danny Dunphv (Dennis); brother, Roland (Mary); special nephew Darren, all of Alberta; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by uncles, Harold, Douglas, Manny; Aunt Jenny and will be dearly missed by his Aunt Margaret. He was a member of St. Francis of Assissi. Cremation entrusted to Fillmore and Whitman. No visitation or flowers. Funeral mass will take place Feb. 8 at 1 p.m. in St Joseph's, Dingwall, with Fr. Dan MacDonald officiating. Burial at a later date. "His jokes, stories, laughter, weather predictions and impersonations will linger forever in the hearts of his family and many friends."
