In my great aunt’s collection I have a few photos dated 1919 with a note on the reverse- Mrs. Nicholson 2nd cousin and son Hector. I am not familiar with them and I believe the photo was taken in Chicago. I am taking a guess that Mrs. Nicholson and son Hector are related to my great grandfather Roderick Daniel Ferguson born in Cape Breton Nova Scotia around 1857 and died in Chicago in 1909. (perhaps arriving in Massachusetts before going to Chicago) I was wondering if this Nicholson/Ferguson connection sounds familiar to anyone?
Hi there.... I have Fergusons married into Nicholsons, I have Rodericks and I have Hectors, but I can't connect the dots with your request. Could you share your great-aunt's name? Margaret Ellen Ferguson is my great aunt, she had a sister Eunice, a brother Roy and brother Robert Eric my grandfather- (there were several other siblings who died early) they were all born in Chicago. I believe my grandfather Roderick was born in Cape Breton emmigrated to Boston and made his way to Illinois before 1888 when he married Margaret Reid. I have a photo of Roderick that looks sort of like a sailor uniform but am not sure. He died in a bar fight in Chicago in 1909. The only indication of a connection to the Nicholson's is the photos with reference to Mrs. Nicholson 2nd cousin and son Hector. Some of my research suggests Roderick's parents are Donald and Sarah Ferguson (with Donald's second wife Elizabeth Strachen) ?? I am still working on connecting the dots myself. I look forward to hearing from you.
