My gr. grandfather (and probably yours?) lived in what was called 'New Houses' in Sydney Mines in the first decade or so of the 1900s.... my understanding was that they were new row houses (Company?) in Cranberry but I never did try to establish if this was a fact. I only know he was working in the 'tub shop' (Steel Plant, Sydney Mines) and the family was living at Cranberry at that time and later moved to Convent Street with my grandparents.
