Born in Upper Baddeck on July 11, 1931, he was the son of the late John (Jack) and Mary (MacKinnon) MacLean. Over the course of his working career, he was a farmer, boat builder, carpenter and forestry worker. His boat building career spanned 44 years; 14 years with Pinaud’s Boat Yard, followed by 30 years at Cape Breton Boat Yard, retiring in 2006. He was a member of Knox Presbyterian church, Baddeck and St. Mark’s Masonic Lodge #35, Baddeck. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Sadie MacLean; son, Charles (Heather); daughter, Judy; son, Jonathan (Dorothy); grandchildren, Lyndsay (Joe), Kenzie (Andrea), Kyla (Nick) and Kristen; great-grandchildren, William and Evan. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church, Baddeck, on Saturday, July 30, 2016, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., with Masonic Service at 7 p.m., followed by funeral service from the Church at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 31, 2016. Burial will be at a later date. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and all staff of the An Cala Palliative care unit, Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney and the Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck. Donations may be made to the Hospice Society of Victoria County, Victoria County Memorial Hospital Charitable Foundation, Knox Presbyterian Church or charity of choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Sunset Funeral Co-op, Margaree. LOUIS MADORE Passed in: SYDNEY Passed on: July 27th, 2016 Louis Agustis Madore, 85 of Sydney, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. He was the son of the late Bernard Louis Madore and Viola Rose Shaw of Glace Bay. Louis worked for many years at Maritime Tel & Tel. He is survived by his sister, Theresa Andrews, Glace Bay; his wife Jean, Sydney; son Paul, Sydney; daughter, Anita and nephew, Julian. There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place. JOHN DODGE Passed on: July 27th, 2016 We regret to announce the passing of our beloved husband, best friend and jive partner of Chris (nee MacIntyre) for over 47 years, John “Jock” Dodge who passed away on Wed., July 27, 2016 at the Health Sciences North, at the age of 70. Loving dad to daughter, Dana (Andy) and son, Kelly (Jasmin), both of Toronto. Adored Grampa of Ava, Kaia, Archer and Adria. Survived by his sister, Mary Jane (Allan Laird) of Vancouver and MacIntyre in-laws, Ernest (Joyce), Kenrod (Anne) and Armand (Deirdre). Predeceased by his parents, John and Edwina Dodge (nee Logan). He will also be missed by several nieces, nephews and dear friends. His enriched and varied career path took him from Winnipeg to London to Sydney to Sudbury, making lifelong friends along the way. Always one for new projects, he was as enthusiastic with a hammer, saw or crowbar, as he was successful in business, technology and academia. Jock was a founding member of the Cape Breton Canoe & Geographic Society. Time spent in Pictou, Aruba and Naples was dear to his heart, as were all of his many trips with friends and family. The family would especially like to thank Dr. Young, Tara Imbeau, Dr. Bowen, the emergency care staff and nurses of 4th floor south at Health Sciences North. Funeral Service in the R.J. Barnard Chapel Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch St., Sudbury, Ont., Saturday, July 30th, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. Friends may gather on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. and after 11:15 a.m. on Saturday. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Northern Cancer Foundation, Cancer Centre, or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. CHRISTINA BETTY FRASER Born In: MEAT COVE Passed in: Montréal, Quebec, Canada Passed on: May 7th, 2016 It is with profound sadness that the daughters, Annemarie, Lisa and Rosanna LeBlanc, announce the passing of their dear mother, Betty Fraser on May 7, 2016 in Montreal, QC. Betty was the loving and devoted wife of the late John Thomas LeBlanc (deceased 2006) and together they worked hard to make a happy life for their appreciative family. Betty was the proud grandmother, of Robyn Good, Christopher Giroux, Curtis Giroux, Ashley Ettinger (pre-deceased), and Stacey Ettinger and great-grandmother, of Ava, Ella and Rose Babis, Jayden Ettinger and Teresa Willis. Betty was the daughter of Ronald Fraser and Flora MacKinnon. Born in Meat Cove, Cape Breton,N.S. in 1936. Betty all her life identified as a proud Fraser and Cape Breton native. Funeral services will be held at 12:15 p.m. on Sunday, August 7, 2016, at Saint Josephs' Cemetery, New Victoria, Cape Breton, N.S. A luncheon will follow at St. Leonard's Hall on Convent Street in New Waterford. JOHN LEBLANC Born In: SYDNEY Passed in: Montréal, Quebec, Canada Passed on: September 7th, 2006 Annemarie, Lisa and Rosanna LeBlanc, the loving daughters of John, announce the memorial service for their beloved father John, who passed away in Montreal, QC, on Sept., 7, 2006. John was the dedicated and adoring husband of the late Christina "Betty" Elizabeth Fraser. John was a wonderful dad with a sharp mind who was always there for his family. John was the proud grandfather, of Robyn Good, Christopher and Curtis Giroux, Ashley and Stacey Ettinger and great-grandfather, of Ava, Ella and Rose Babis, Jayden Ettinger and Teresa Willis. John was the son, of Gladys May Townes and George Joseph LeBlanc. Born in Sydney, Nova Scotia in 1936, he began his career at the Cape Breton Post, John was always proud to be a Cape Bretoner.
