John (Tassie) Francis Arsenault John (Tassie) Francis Arsenault 94, Sydney Mines It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of John Francis Arsenault at Harbourview Hospital Sydney Mines on July 28, 2016. Born in Alder Point, he was the son of the late Ephriam and Adele (Lanbert) Arsenault. A complete obituary and notice of a memorial mass will be posted by J.M. Jobes Funeral Home at a later date. Kathleen ‘Kay’ (Sampson) Pottie Pottie, Kathleen ‘Kay’ (Sampson) 90, Mississauga, Ont. Formerly of Sydney. It is with saddened hearts that we the family announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, ‘Kay’ Pottie, which occurred Tuesday, June 21st 2016 at home in Mississauga, Ont surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 13, 1925 in Lower L’Ardoise Richmond County, Kay was the daughter of the late Barnaby and Margaret (Peters) Sampson. Kay was an amazing cook, housekeeper and enjoyed preparing meals for her family. She was a devoted Catholic with great faith. Kay will be remembered by her family and friends for being a humble and gentle woman who saw the good in everyone. Besides her parents, Kay was predeceased by her husband, Alonzo in Oct. 1990, son, Gilbert, sisters, Evelyn Bonaparte, Laura Pottie, Rose MacLean and brother, Martin Sampson. Kay is survived by her loving daughters, Doreen Palmer, Mississauga, Ont. and Debbie Pottie, Cambridge, Ont.; grandchildren, Tommie, Stacey, Lori, Lisa, Walter, Sheila; great-grandchildren, Logan, Ciara, Kody, Jake, Joanna, Lucas, Blake, Tommie Jr., Katie, Michael, Emma, Owen and Alyssa; God children, Janet MacDonald, Trevor Allen, Germaine Sampson, Marie MacDonald and Karen Pettitt; sisters, Sarah Pyke, Anne Marie Desveaux, Marie Mombourquette, Janet MacDonald (Kevin) Mary Campbell (Dave) and Doris Allen (Ralph); brother, Nap Sampson (Shirley); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Thomas Foster Thomas John Foster North Sydney It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, dear brother and friend, Thomas John Foster on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at the Northside Community Guest Home surrounded by his loving family. Tom was born in North Sydney on July 24, 1944, he was the son of the late Joseph and Alma (Hines) Foster. Thomas was a painter by trade working for several companies in Ontario before moving home and working for himself for many years. He enjoyed fishing, darts and was passionate about gardening and a genuine fan of TV wrestling. Tom is survived by his son Tommy and daughter Janet Foster, Toronto, by his brother Robert , Ft. McMurray, sisters Shirley Foster, California, Rita Noble, North Sydney, Marion Erkinger, Toronto, and Linda (David) Shepherd, Balls Creek. He is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank all the staff of the Northside Community Guest Home for going above and beyond with the care and love they gave Tom and being a great friend to him, a very special thanks to his best friends Blaine and Rhonda Perry, Broc and Tom MacLeod for all the years of friendship, love and support. Online condolences may be sent to www.wjdooley.com Mary Frances Grover Mary Frances Grover Neil’s Harbour It is with great sadness that we announce the quiet passing of Mary Frances Grover, 59, on July 21, 2016 at Highland Manor Nursing Home in Neil’s Harbour. Born in Neil’s Harbour, Mary Frances was the only daughter of Hugh and Catherine (Brown) Grover. She worked for many years as a hairdresser. Mary Frances is survived by her daughter Tosha (Dan), her bothers, Bernie (Christine), Leo (Mary Claire), Ira (Cheryl), Melvin (Angela), Brian (Bonnie) and Nick (Maureen), her grandsons Steven, Patrick and Jaydn and nieces and nephews. Also left to mourn her passing is her “other family”, the staff of Highland Manor Nursing Home where she resided for more than 24 years. She was predeceased by her parents and a nephew, Shane.
