Theresa was born in Inverness on January 7th, 1959, to parents Joseph Angus and Annie Jane (MacKenzie) Gillis. Theresa attended school at Margaree Forks and Mabou before moving to Calgary, Alberta to start her career in the financial industry. After 30 years of living out west, she moved back home to Cape Breton and resided in Gillisdale and lived in Inverness the last few years. It was always her dream to move back to her home province and was very proud of her Cape Breton roots. She loved walking along the beach in Inverness and watching the lobster boats, reading a good book that her daughters would send her, and spending time with her family. Theresa will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters Hilary and Elizabeth McLellan; her mother Annie Jane; her 12 siblings Martha MacLellan, Ann MacDougall, Ena Cousins, Esther Kirby, Barbara Taylor, Jesslyn MacLellan, Margaret MacIsaac, Hector Gillis, Donna Gillis, Diane MacKinnon, Robert Gillis and Albert Gillis; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father Joseph Angus Gillis. The visitation was held on Tuesday, July 19th at Sunset Funeral Home. The funeral service was held Wednesday, July 20th at St. Joseph’s Church, Southwest Margaree with Father Everett MacDow officiating. Memorial donations in memory of Theresa may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada or to Canadian Blood Services. He was the son of the late Hector and Catherine Gillis of Port Hood, NS. He is survived by son Brian (Toronto); sisters Anne (Daniel) and Pauline (Terry); and brothers Vincent (Myra) and Ivan (Darlene). He was predeceased by sisters Betty and Bernice and a brother and sister in infancy. Burial of ashes will follow the 6:30 p.m. Mass on July 26th, 2016 in Port Hood cemetery. DUNN It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Pauline Marie (Cormier) Dunn of Margaree Forks on July 18th, 2016, with her beloved family by her side. Pauline fought a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Inverness on June 8th,1948, she was the daughter of the late Joseph F. and Annie Mae (LeBlanc) Cormier. She was a member of St. Michael's Parish, East Margaree; Inverness Legion Branch 132; as well as a member of the Margaree Kinette Club for over 20 years. Pauline spent her life caring for family and friends, which carried over into her career as a Continuing Care Assistant. She enjoyed gardening, music, travel, and spending time with her family. Left to remember her with smiles and fond memories are her sons David (Kim) and Sheldon (Erin); daughter Natalie MacDonald-Pelrine; beloved grandchildren Carmen, Kelsey, Taylor, Maeve, Colton, Makenzie, Justine, Ben and Luke; two great-grandchildren Gabriella and Kaleb; siblings Lionel (Beatrice), Germaine (Al), Delina (Mark), Bernie, Lorraine (Wilfred), Yvonne, and Clarence (Paula); and sister-in-law Josephine. Also several nieces, nephews and a very special friend, Bernadette Murphy. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her husband David Dunn; daughter Karen; brothers Armand and Marcel; and companion John MacPhee. DOUCET Therese Doucet (LeBlanc), age 84, of Foyer Pere Fiset, Cheticamp, passed away July 12th, 2016, in Sacred Heart Community Health Centre. Born in Grand Etang, she was a daughter of the late Willie and Zoe (LeBlanc) LeBlanc. Therese's life centred around her family. She cherished her time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She never imposed on anyone but never missed the opportunity to go for outings. A lover of fiddle music, she also loved to round dance to her favourite songs. Her loss of sight never deterred her from living her life to the fullest. She loved a good chat and will be remembered for her sharp memory and her sense of fashion. Therese was a woman of faith; a gentle and generous spirit. She will be missed by all. She is survived by sons Gaston (Gisele) Doucet, Petit Etang; Robert (Debra) Doucet, Lower Sackville; daughters Lorraine (Alvin) Roach, Grand Etang; Yvette (Marcel) Bourgeois, Cheticamp; Gloria (Bruce) Murrell, Barrie, ON; Jeanette (Mark) Buell, Ottawa, ON; sister Doris Aucoin, Burlington, ON; grandchildren Danielle, Mireille, Guy, Cyril, Glen, Andrée, Cole, Mathieu, Marc, Renee, Celine, Danelle, Zacharie, and Isaac; and great-grandchildren Layne, Dylan, Gavin, Logan, Sadie, Evie, Cooper and Koster. POIRIER Simi John Poirier, age78, of Cheticamp, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 8th, 2016, at Sacred Heart Community Health Centre. Born in Cheticamp on July 20th, 1937, he was the son of the late Pitre and Hélène (Aucoin) Poirier. Simi John worked in Toronto for Ford Canada for many years before returning to his home in Cheticamp in 1988. He then worked in maintenance at Laurie’s Motor Inn. Simi John was very devoted to his family and to his community. He was a member of Paroisse Saint-Pierre, Le Club des Retraités de Chéticamp, l’AMAC (Association musicale acadienne de Chéticamp) and a faithful member of the musical group Les Troubadours where he spent many hours entertaining the residents at Foyer Père Fiset. He was at his happiest playing his guitar and singing old songs at various functions and family kitchen parties, including the Green Door, Margaree Seniors' Hall and at the Inverness Manor. He loved trout fishing, never missed a chance to play bingo and was a devoted fan of the Montreal Canadiens. He will be remembered for his endless supply of jokes and old stories and his no nonsense opinions on any subject. Surviving are his wife of almost 50 years Laurette (Boudreau); brothers Arthur and David (Hilda); sisters Olive and Amélia (Paul); his extended Boudreau family; and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers Hubert, Xavier, Alex Joe, Wilfred, Anselme and Alphonse; sisters Elizabeth, Marie Flora, Annie Belle, Hélène Rose, Marie Edna and Marie Eunice. Visitation took place at Cheticamp Funeral Home on Monday, July 11th. Funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, July 12th at Église Saint-Pierre. Interment in the parish cemetery.
