Born in Sydney on March 3, 1924, she was the daughter, of the late Solomon and Annie Jewer. Lillian was employed with General Instruments. She was a member of the Salvation Army and Home League. She played in the Salvation Army Band and was a great Christian. She was a grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother to many children. Survived by her daughters, Ruth (Charles) Nicholson, Viola (Normand) LeBlanc, Lillian (Les) Noll, Donna (Blair) Peckham and sons, Robert (Evelyn) Piercey, Gerry (Margie) Piercey and David Eddy; sisters, Doris, Rita, Rose; brothers, Roy, Tom, Jim and Ernie as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Ralphy; sisters, Florence, Olive and Lottie; brothers, Saul and Henry. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Palliative Care Unit and also to Dr. Myatt for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers donations in Lillian’s memory can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, or a charity of one’s choice. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 21, 2016, at the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Friday, July 22, 2016, at the Salvation Army, Sydney, with Captain Corey & Charlene Vincent officiating Interment to follow in Eastmount Cemetery, Whitney Pier. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of... ALLAN MACQUARRIE Passed in: Glace Bay Passed on: July 16th, 2016 With much sadness and acceptance we announce the passing of Allan W. MacQuarrie, 86, which occurred Saturday, July 16, 2016, at the Glace Bay Hospital. Allan was a son of the late Arthur and Irene (Brown) MacQuarrie. A dedicated family man, Pa especially loved and was loved by his grandchildren. He was affectionately known by his grandchildren's friends as "Pa". He could be regularly seen in the barn talking about horses and enjoying a candy or sweet. As a young man, he worked at MacKeigans Bakery then as a trade insulator, he was employed with Consolidated Maintenance at the Heavy Water Plant through to its closing. He retired from the Adam Clarke Company at Sydport. Allan is survived by Sue, his wife of 62 wonderful years; by daughter, Wendy MacLeod; grandson, Jeff (Maureen); granddaughter, Ainslie (Matthew); great-grandsons, Kevin and Grady; sister, Harriet MacKenzie and many cherished nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Margaret MacDonald; brother, Bernard; son-in-law, Kevin MacLeod; brothers-in-law, Buddy MacKenzie and Tom MacDonald; nephew, Tom MacDonald. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Curry’s Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay. There will be no visitation. At a later date, a private Christian burial will take place at the family gravesite in St. Anthony Cemetery, officiated by Fr. Norman MacPhee. David Roach Born In: New Waterford Passed on: July 17th, 2016 It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of David Michael Roach on July 17, 2016, at home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late Francis ‘Frico’ and Shirley (Clarke) Roach. David was self-employed with his own company (D & S Overhead Garage Doors). He enjoyed hunting, fishing and also playing darts and cards with friends. He is survived by his wife, Florence; son, David (Neila); the true love of his life, granddaughter, Hannah; sisters, Nancy (Kenny), Audrey (Adrian), Anne (Mick) and Cathy (Ray); brothers, Bill, Peter (Ann) and Tony (Eleanor). Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Mary Ellen LeBlanc; father-in-law, Frank Hogan and father-in-law, Charles LeBlanc. Cremation has taken place and a chapel service will take place on Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Deacon Leo Penny officiating followed by a luncheon at the Army, Navy & Air-force, Smith Street, All are welcome.
