Denise (Deveaux) Labreque, April 27th, 2011, and Marcel Deveaux, May 21st, 2012. Denise passed away after a valiant battle with cancer in the arms of her loving husband and best friend, Marc Labrecque, at the young age of 47. Denise was a hard worker who loved music, animals and had a particular soft spot for any cat in need. Denise had a bright and bubbly personality and was ready to take on the world with all she was! Denise found heaven when she moved to western Canada many years ago and the view of the mountains gave her an inner peace, sense of belonging and feeling for never wanting to return to her roots in Ontario. Marcel lost his battle with cancer at the young age of 48. Marcel was a twin to Denise, and was the youngest male in our family. He never strayed far from home, always remaining in his hometown of Whitby. Marcel had a passion for fishing, his house was his castle, and he adored his cat, Jerry Lee. Marcel had a great sense of humour and was quite often the practical joker. Marcel was extremely close with his mother Jean and enjoyed spending time with his nieces, nephews and great-nephew. They will be forever missed by Denise's husband Marc; sister Donna (John) Barnard; brother Mike (Cheryl) Deveaux; cousin Lorraine (Dave) Ashworth Brown; niece and nephews Michael, Mandie, Mark Clazie; great-nephew and niece Nolan and Mya; and cousin Tyler Ashworth. They will also be dearly missed by many, many friends, cousins and neighbours. Visitation was held on Wednesday, July 20th in Cheticamp Funeral Home. A graveside service was held in St. Joseph's Cemetery, St.-Joseph-du-Moine. Donations may be made to a charity of choice. Condolences may be sent to cheticampfuneral@ns.aliantzinc.ca <mailto:cheticampfuneral@ns.aliantzinc.ca>. DEVEAUX Remembering a family gone too soon and so close together. Jean Deveaux, August 24th, 2013 and Louis Deveaux, March 4th, 2016. Jean became ill and passed away from cancer very quickly but in peace and without discomfort. Jean’s pain had been the loss of her children which she could not cope with nor bear. Jean could light up a room with her quick wit and humour; she loved to play cards and was extremely competitive. Jean's favourite place on earth was Cape Breton and she wished that she could live there full-time, but that would have meant being away from her children and although they were all grown she still enjoyed fussing over them and welcomed being needed. Our mom was a dedicated wife to our dad for 60 years and nothing made her happier than family get-togethers sharing fun, games and laughter. Dad was one of a kind! He never stopped joking or telling jokes and always had a story for whoever would listen. Dad had more friends than imaginable and loved to spend time shooting the breeze with all of them. Dad was the hardest working man we knew. He was a man of simple means, intensely proud, and filled with determination and willpower. Dad was an incredibly stubborn man but that is what pulled him through tough times and kept him going. Dad returns now to his birthplace in Cape Breton and will rest with members of both his families. They will be forever missed by daughter Donna (John) Barnard; son Mike (Cheryl) Deveaux; niece Lorraine (Dave) Ashworth Brown; grandchildren Michael, Mandie, Mark Clazie, Nolan, Mya and Tyler Ashworth. They will also be dearly missed by many, many friends, cousins and neighbours. Visitation was held on Wednesday, July 20th in Cheticamp Funeral Home.
