Born in Antigonish, he was a son of the late Maurice and Mary Ellen (Prosper) Francis. John worked in Boston for most of his life as a painter. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and four-wheeling. He played guitar and enjoyed playing hockey and softball. He is survived by his son, John Wesley Poulette, Eskasoni; sister, Patricia (Tom) Coupland, Hamilton, ON and half-brother, David Knockwood, Pictou Landing. Predeceased by his brothers, Joseph and Thomas. Cremation has taken place. Funeral Mass will be held in Immaculate Conception Church, Heatherton, on Friday, November 4th, at 11 a.m with Reverend Gary MacPherson presiding. Burial in St. Ann's Cemetery, Summerside Road. MARIE MACNEIL Born In: SHEET HARBOUR Born: December 24th, 1922 Passed in: SYDNEY Passed on: November 1st, 2016 Marie, age 93, "AA" died peacefully at Harbourstone Enhanced Care, Sydney on November 1, 2016, where she had resided for the past 2 years. Born in Sheet Harbour, NS, in December 24, 1922, she was a daughter of the late John and Annie (Barkhouse) Coady. In 1956 Marie married Alex and moved into the MacNeil family home in Big Pond. Both Alex and Marie ran "AA Mac Neil General Merchant”, the local store until 1995. This local institution provided a gathering place for news to be exchanged and also provided all necessary articles for the home ranging from a loaf of bread to plumbing supplies. Mom was always an active person; she enjoyed her grandchildren, sports, knitting, cats and offering an opinion. She is survived by two sons, Allan (Mary), Coxheath and Angus "AA", Truro. She is also survived by her four grandsons, whom she loved to watch play hockey over the years, Andrew (Britt), Ottawa, Daniel (Laura), Westmount, Steven (Kate,) Vancouver, Stuart (Kelsey), Yellowknife. Marie was also blessed to have three great-grandchildren much to her delight, Rose, Ewan and Fiona. She is also survived by her brother, Lloyd, Truro and several nieces and nephews. Marie was predeceased by her husband, Alex in 2001; sisters, Muriel, Hazel and Eileen and by brothers, Howard, George, Frank. Sincere thanks to the staff at Harbourstone Enhanced Care, Steelworkers Lane, who provided Mum with exceptional care during her stay. Visitation will be held at St Mary's Church Big Pond on Saturday, November 5, noon until the time of the funeral mass at 2 p.m. with Rev. Richard Philiposki officiating. Peter Joseph Jessome Born In: Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia Born: June 22nd, 1979 Passed on: October 28th, 2016 It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Joseph Jessome, on Friday, October 28, 2016, at the age of 37. Born in Sydney Mines on June 22, 1979, he was the son of Lisa Capstick and the late David Jessome. Peter worked as a lobster fisherman. He also enjoyed fishing as a hobby and carpentry. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Peter leaves behind his children, Evan, Peter and Chelsea. Also left to mourn are his girlfriend, Tammy Leonard; the mother of his sons, Lori Ann Devoe; siblings, Deena (John) and Candy (Michael); his mother, Lisa; nieces, Breanna, Sarah, Sophie and Jase and his nephew, David. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A private graveside service for family and friends will be held at a later date. Sharrie Colson Passed on: October 30th, 2016 It is with great sadness and regret we announce the passing of Sharrie Colson. Sharrie passed away suddenly on October 30, 2016 at the young age of 39. Sharrie was a beautiful and caring mother, sister, daughter, niece and friend. Sharrie, for all who knew her, had nothing but great love in her heart for her family and close friends. Sharrie would give whatever she had to help everyone. Sharrie is survived by her two amazing children, son, Logan Colson and daughter, Marisa Anderson; mother, Diane Pederson; stepfather, Pete Pederson; stepmother, Debbie Colson; sisters, Terrie Colson, Michelle Thomas and Kelly Colson; brother, Joey Dawe; brother-in-law, Terry Jewells; sister-in-law, Ashley Dawe. Sharrie was predeceased by her father, Brian Colson; sister, Lisa Colson-White and uncle, David Colson. Sharrie will be greatly missed by her many nieces and nephews. She was the kind of person who made family events special; she was the ice breaker at all of them. She enjoyed singing, shopping trips and lived a carefree life.
