Paul suffered a massive heart attack due to heart disease. Paul was born in Sydney Mines on Sept. 2, 1964. He was a member of Local No. 488. Paul loved fishing and hunting however never ate the catch — he always gave it away. He loved spending time with his family and with Dave and Jane Jessome at their cabin while on his vacation. He loved being an uncle, and treated each child as if they were the only one. Paul left behind three sisters, Janice ( Jeff ) Wheeler, Alta., Violet ( Mike ) Jamael, Alta., and Jackie (Bud) Herald, Florence; one brother, Bill Williams, Florence, 25 nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews; and a special aunt Vivian MacLean. Paul was preceded by his mother, Jeanette ( Hines) Williams; father, James B. MacLean; stepdad, William T. Williams; three sisters, Yvonne Hines, Mae LeBlanc, Diane Genter; a niece, Linda Dunphy; and a special uncle, George MacLean. A memorial service will be arranged at a later date. Rest in Peace. Constance Marie MacKinnon Glace Bay It is with heartfelt sadness, that we announce the passing of our wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. Connie (Murray) MacKinnon formerly of Whitney Pier and a longtime resident of Glace Bay, passed away unexpectedly at home on March 8, 2016. Connie was born on Nov. 7, 1932, and was predeceased by her loving husband, Jim MacKinnon. Connie is survived by her three daughters, Lori (David), Lisa (Mark) and Erin (Merril) and by six grandchildren, Mark, Rebekah, Connor, Bhreagh, Liam and Brennah. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A private family service will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Connie’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Edward Kublek Born In: Middle Cape Passed on: March 9th, 2016 It is with deepest sadness that we announce the death of Edward Kublek on March 9, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Middle Cape, he was the son of the late Charles Kublek, native of the Ukraine and the late Ellen Ann (Hest) Kublek, native of England. He was a devoted member of Holy Cross parish. Retired from the Cape Breton Development Corp. He is survived by his loving son, Gregory; daughters, Ann Baglieri (Paul), Gail Boutilier (Francis), Barbara Holloway (Frank); five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister-in-law, Rita Campbell; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Jennie; four brothers Ernest, Charles, Joseph, George; one sister, Alice. The family would like to thank the staff of the CCU at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their loving care and attention given to Edward. Memorial donations may be made to Palliative Care, Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, March 13th at Curry's Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 14th, 2 p.m. at Holy Cross Parish. A reception will follow in the basement. John Henry Jackson Born In: Sydney Mines Born: May 13th, 1942 Passed in: North Sydney Passed on: March 9th, 2016 It is with the heaviest of hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of John Henry Jackson, 73, of Sydney Mines, on Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at the Northside General Hospital, after a strong and courageous battle with a lengthy illness. Born in Sydney Mines on May 13, 1942, he was the son of the late Clifford and Ellen (Butts) Jackson. Johnny was a proud coal miner, and worked for over 32 years in Princess, Lingan and Prince mines. He greatly enjoyed bowling, darts and golf, but most of all he enjoyed sharing music with his friends, and volunteering to entertain at the local hospitals and guest homes, to help bring a smile and brighten someone’s day. Johnny leaves behind his loving companion, Jeannie McGean; his four children, Brenda (Peter Roberts), Tim (Doris), Marvin, and Jolene (Brian LeBlanc); nine grandchildren, John, Ellie, Josh, Chris, Jake, Wyatt, Jeremy, Megan and Matthew, and eight great-grandchildren. He will also be forever loved and missed by his sisters, Violet Gove, Sheila (Jim) LeBlanc, Sandra (Brian) May and June (Blake) Hawkins; brothers, Clifford 'Kippy’ (Lorraine), Wayne (Dee Dee) and Terry (Lorna) Banks, along with many nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family. Besides his parents, Johnny was predeceased by Jane Tremblett, from his first marriage, Anna (Lewis), from his second marriage; companion, Annette (Nettie) Forrest; his beautiful sister, Deborah Barry; brother-in-law, Dennis Barry and sister-in-law, Judith Jackson. At his request, there will be no visitation. A celebration of his life will take place Monday, March 14, 2016, at 11 a.m. in Carman United Church, Clyde Avenue, Sydney Mines, with Rev. Nick Phillips officiating. A reception will be held in the Sydney Mines Pensioners' Club, following the service. Donations in Johnny’s memory may be made to the Northside Hospital Foundation, or the Cape Breton Cancer Center. John Hines Born In: New Waterford Passed in: North Sydney Passed on: March 10th, 2016 John ‘Jack’ Thomas Hines, 76, of Sydney passed away Thursday, March 10, 2016 after a lengthy illness at the Northside General Hospital, North Sydney. Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late Thomas and Mary (Petrie) Hines. Jack is survived by his wife of 46 years, Blanche (Cholock) Hines; daughter, Natalie (Tim) O’Doherty and their children, Aidan and Cara, Barrie, Ont.; son, Tom (Carolyn) and their children, Hannah, Connor and Owen of Ottawa, Ont. Visitation for Mr. Hines will take place on Sunday, March 13 from 7-9 p.m. at T.W.Curry Parkview Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at T.W.Curry Parkview Chapel with Rev. Tom MacNeil officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks. Family flowers only by request. Donations may be made to the Holy Redeemer Building Fund, P.O.
