Blair is survived by his wife Dianne and stepsons Aaron (Denise) and Travis with whom Blair shared a unique bond. He is also survived by his mother Agnes who was so special to him and such a blessing in his life, his sisters Linda Collingwood (John), Blanche MacKenzie (Kirk) and special brother Curtis (Yvonne), aunt Teresa as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Blair was predeceased by his father John W. in 1980. Blair had worked for the last few years in Alberta but after becoming ill returned home to his beloved Cape Breton where he could look out over the lake from his house and spend time in his boat doing what he loved best. Sincere thanks to Dr. Ritter and Palliative care team for providing such great care and support during a very difficult time. In Blair’s honour a gathering will take place on Thursday, March 31 from the Big Bras d’Or Firehall from 2-4 p.m. Immediately following visitation, a private family session with Rev. P. Linda Ann McInnis MacDonald Born In: Glace Bay Born: January 9th, 1948 Passed on: March 25th, 2016 Linda Ann MacDonald, 68, passed away peacefully at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family on March 25, 2016 after a brief struggle with lung cancer. Linda was born Jan. 9, 1948 in Glace Bay she was a loving daughter of the late Dan A. McInnis and Annie McCarthy. She grew up and raised her family in Bridgeport, until she met and married Colin F. MacDonald and relocated to Marion Bridge. Linda loved the outdoors and took joy spending time at the water with her beautiful dog Bella who she adored; she always said it was her little piece of Heaven where everyone was welcome. Linda had a contagious personality who always kept her family and friends as her main passion and delight in her life. She touched the hearts and lives of so many people who knew her. Although Linda worked in several areas, she was best known for her ability to provide homecare for those who needed her kind hand. She is survived by her husband Colin F. MacDonald, Marion Bridge; daughter Deann Woods, Quispamsis, N.B.; son Dan MacKinnon, Coxheath; sister Janette (Ken) Shortridge, Ottawa; grandchildren Brandon, Maria, Alicia, Tom, Kyle, Emma and Madison. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends. Funeral Mass will take place 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 29 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Marion Bridge with Fr. Paul McGillivary officiating. A reception will follow the mass. In lieu of flowers, donations in Linda’s memory can be made to the Palliative Care unit of the C.B. Bernard Aloysius Peck Passed in: Sydney Mines Passed on: March 26th, 2016 We regret to announce the passing of Bernard 'Bernie' Peck, 86, on Saturday March, 26, 2016 at MacGillivary Guest Home, Sydney. Born in Sydney Mines on Jan. 28, 1930, he was the son of the late Joseph and Loretta (MacDonald) Peck of Sydney Mines. He is survived by his loving wife Grace (Howley), daughter Laura (Barry McLoughlin), Ottawa, sons, Joe (Karenanne), Sydney Mines, Greg, Ontario, along with his loving grandchildren who he adored. A complete obituary and funeral arrangements will be published at a later date. Sister Rita Anthony MacKinnon Born In: Glace Bay Passed in: Antigonish, Canada Passed on: March 25th, 2016 Sister Rita Anthony MacKinnon, 87, a Sister of Saint Martha of Antigonish, died at Bethany, the Motherhouse, on March 25, 2016, in the 63rd year of her religious life. Born in Glace Bay, N.S., Sister Rita Anthony was one of seven children of the late Anthony and Mary (MacIntyre) MacKinnon. The family later moved to Sydney, N.S. Presently she is survived by three sisters, Mary Mayo, Anne MacDonald and Bernadine MacKinnon; and by two brothers, Ronald J. and Anthony (Tony). Sr. Rita Anthony entered the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Martha on Aug. 15, 1951, pronounced her first vows on Aug. 15, 1953 and her perpetual profession of vows on Aug. 15, 1956. Prior to her entrance into the Sisters of St. Martha, she attended classes at Sydney Academy and following that experience did some clerical work. Sister carried out various ministries during her religious life, which included management roles in housekeeping in various hospitals and other institutions operated by the Sisters of St. Martha. This took her to Sydney, Lethbridge, Alta., Ottawa, Ont., Glace Bay, and Antigonish. In 1973 she graduated from Confederation College of Applied Arts and Technology in Thunder Bay, Ont., and received her diploma in Institutional Management. Sr. Rita Anthony was a woman of prayer, was interested in people and their needs. She carried their concerns in her heart. Sr. Rita Anthony ministered in Antigonish at Bethany, St. Martha’s Convent, St. Martha’s Hospital, R.K. MacDonald Guest House; in Sydney at Little Flower Institute, St. Rita Hospital, and at St. Charles Convent in Dominion, N.S.; in Ontario at Cardinal’s Residence in Willowdale, St. Pius X Seminary Convent in Ottawa, Ont.; and in Lethbridge, Alta. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Mary Josephine MacKinnon, Evangeline Wagner and by one brother, Adrian MacKinnon. Her remains will be resting at Bethany, beginning Monday, March 28, 2016, at 1:15 p.m., where a Celebration of Vigil will be held on the same evening at 7:30 p.m. Liturgy of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, March 29 at 2 p.m. in Bethany Chapel. Glen Warren Born In: Neil's Harbour Passed in: Ingonish Passed on: March 25th, 2016 It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Glenn Warren, 59, on Friday, March 25, 2016 in Neil’s Harbour. Born in Neil’s Harbour to Virginia Dodd (Warren), and raised by his loving grandparents Winnifred (2001) and Roy (1969) Warren. He is survived by his loving wife Shaune Warren (Storm), daughter and son-in-law Regan and Chris Barron, parents Virginia and Russell Dodd, siblings Dana (Shawn) Ryan and Warren (Laura) Dodd and nephew Nicholas. Visitation will take place Tuesday, March 29, 7-9 p.m. at the Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home in Ingonish. Funeral service will be Wednesday, March 30 at 11 a.m. at the Ingonish United Church. Frances Bernice MacRitchie Born In: Pictou Born: November 11th, 1947 Passed in: Baddeck Passed on: March 25th, 2016 Frances Bernice MacRitchie, Baddeck, passed away on Friday, March 25, 2016 at the Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck. Frances was born on Nov. 11, 1947 in Pictou, N.S. She is survived by her husband, George; daughter, Cathy (Jason); son, Clifford (Wanda); stepchildren, Janice (Sean); Fraser (Marie); grandchildren, Allie, Josh, Shawntel; step-grandchildren, Tara, Jake, Ella, Kenneth; sisters, Mae; Judy (Roger); Christine (David); Francine (Mike); Sharon (Glen); Dora (Garth); Susan (Herb). She was predeceased by her parents, Norma Lee and James Victor Lynch, her first husband, Philip DeCoste, Jr., sister, Janet, brothers, Charles and Wayne. As per her wishes, her body has been donated to Medical Research and there will be no visitation. Memorial service on Monday, March 28, 2016 at 1 p.m. in Greenwood United Church, Baddeck with Rev. Alison Etter officiating. Reception to follow in the church hall. Family flower only. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Victoria County Hospice Society, P.O.
