BASKER The whole world is at a loss. A man who touched more lives than anyone could count has left us all, suddenly, with heavy hearts. Colin Shawn Basker passed away February 25th, 2016. He was born in Inverness, Cape Breton on October 14th, 1971, where he spent his entire life. Here he met and married the love of his life, Darlene (MacLean) Basker, 22 years ago. Together they raised three beautiful children: Brenton, William and their little girl, Rebecca. Remembering him daily with endless love are his mother Helen; sister Lorrie (Harold); sister Arlene (James); and brother Roger (Jane) along with his other adoring family: mother- and father-in-law Florence and Harold MacLean, brothers-in-law Harold Jr., Stephen (Beth) and sister-in-law Sadie (Laci). Also survived by his many nieces, nephews and extended family. Colin Shawn loved with every inch of his heart; throughout his life he would give all he had in every relationship. He was never afraid to speak his mind. He made friends everywhere he went, and strong connections that will last an eternity. Even in death he continued to give as an organ donor. He was a hardworking man who dedicated many hours as a heavy equipment operator for Zutphen Contractors and was a proud volunteer firefighter for the Inverness Fire Department. He was passionate about many things: his son’s hockey team, harness racing, lobster fishing, heavy equipment, protecting anyone who needed it and above all, his family. Colin’s pride and joy was his loving wife and beautiful children whom he loved more than anything. In his honour he would expect us all to raise a glass and have a laugh because it’s exactly what he would do if he were by our sides. He joins his son Christopher Harold; father Christopher; brother Wesley; and his nephew-in-law Jamie McMullin who have all gone before him. There will be no funeral service. A celebration of Colin's life was held on Tuesday, March 1st in Inverness Funeral Home. Burial to take place at a later date. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice. MacDONALD Barbara Ann (MacMillan) MacDonald (1941-2016), age 74, of North Chelmsford, formerly of Wilmington and Tewksbury, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 26th, 2016 surrounded by her family. Barbara was the daughter of John Dan MacMillan and Florence Margaret (MacIsaac) MacMillan. She was born in Port Hood, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia on May 21st, 1941. She moved to the United States at the age of 19, where she resided in Waltham, MA. She was employed by several companies including: B. F. Goodrich, Sylvania, Sweet Heart Plastics, CVD, Bandwagon, Harvard Pilgrim Vanguard, Tel Labs and Maine Technical Source. Not only was she an asset to each and every organization, but she was also a treasured babysitter for many little ones. Barbara could be found actively involved with her family and often behind the scenes busily helping others. She was pleasant, quick-witted and liked to have old-fashioned fun. She loved the things of life: music, dancing, the seashore, children, animals and, especially, making people happy. She was easy to talk to and saw the goodness in people. A beautiful lady with a warm smile, and bright blue eyes – she was a favourite companion. It is not surprising that Barbara had the most visitors at the nursing home where she spent her final days. Barbara often cared for the sick and made time for those who needed a friend. Her unwavering faith guided her throughout her life as she remained gracious, kind and strong. She gave and didn’t expect much in return. Barbara would often say, “It was the right thing to do.” Barbara was the loving wife of Ronald G. MacDonald; beloved mother of Donna L. MacDonald of Watertown, Brenda Ingersoll and her husband Michael of Tewksbury, Linda MacDonald Storer of Wilmington, and Ronald (Frank) MacDonald and his wife Jennifer of Chelmsford. She is survived by her four grandchildren Caryssa Ingersoll, Sarah MacDonald-King, Dwight Storer IV, and Connor MacDonald. She is also survived by several brothers and sisters and their spouses including Loretta Ball, Mary Kennedy, Angus and Louise MacMillan, Pauline and Phil Brake, Donald and Jeanette (Jeannie) MacMillan, Josephine Marie (Josie) Ouellette, and John Francis MacMillan, Martha MacMillan (wife of Alexander), Karen MacMillan (wife of Archie). Barbara was the sister-in-law of John Dan MacDonald, Cecil MacDonald, Francis (Frank) MacDonald, Elda MacLean, Margaret (Margie) MacPhail, Lexis Evans, James MacDonald, and Jessie MacDonald. Barbara was predeceased by her siblings Catherine (Louise) MacMillan, Alexander MacMillan, and Archibald (Archie) MacMillan and her in-laws John Ball (husband of Loretta), Ronald Kennedy (husband of Mary), Marilyn MacMillan (wife of Angus), Rocky Ouellette (husband of Josie), and Dougald (Dougie) MacDonald. She is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews. Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Avenue (Rt. 62), Wilmington on Thursday, March 3rd at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial in St. Dorothy’s Church, Main St. (Rte. 38), Wilmington at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 2nd from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara’s memory can be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities Inc., 229 Kent St., Brookline, MA 02446 (www.rmhc.org <http://www.rmhc.org/>) or to the Canadian American Club, 202 Arlington St., Watertown, MA 02472. www.nicholsfuneralhome.com <http://www.nicholsfuneralhome.com/>.
