Laurence is survived by his wife, Margaret, whom he was married to for 57 years. He was a loving father of Lori (Winston), Cheryl (Michael), Leslie (Randall) and Tracy (Jim). Cherished "Papa and D-dad" to Nicole, Brianna, Makayla, Devon, Olivia, Aaron and Christian. Brother to Maurice and the late Malcolm and Rudy Streete. Predeceased by his father, Dowling and mother, Doris. Laurence was a proud Nova Scotian who loved his alma mater St. Francis Xavier University and his hometown Sydney, N.S., where he spent not only his formative years, but every summer with his friends and family. He was recently inducted into the Cape Breton Hall of Fame in recognition of his outstanding athletic accomplishments including being the first African Canadian to play football at St Francis Xavier University. Laurence was also a highly respected secondary school teacher, mentor, leader and coach to many Gordon Graydon and TL Kennedy students. The success of his students gave him so much pleasure and the memories and stories of the countless hours on the football field with his Graydon Hawks were forever cherished by our Dad. He rejoiced in all aspects of life and his bright smile, counsel and humour will be missed by many. Margaret Anne 'Peggy' Landry Born In: Sydney Passed in: New Minas Passed on: May 1st, 2016 Margaret Anne ‘Peggy’ Landry, 72, of New Minas, passed away on May 1, 2016. Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Martha MacKinnon. She is survived by her husband, Adam; brothers, Gregory and Lorne (Pam); nephew, Thomas and nieces, Roseann, Michelle, Patricia, Rhonda, Sherry, Meg and Kalie. She was predeceased by a brother, Donnie; sister, Donna Marie and nephew, Darren. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. Martin MacDonald Born In: Glace Bay Passed in: Glace Bay Passed on: May 1st, 2016 It is with great sadness and heavy hearts, that we, the family of Martin MacDonald, announce his passing on May 1, 2016 at the age of 73, at the Glace Bay Hospital. Born in Glace Bay, Martin was the son of the late James ‘Deedy’ MacDonald and Margaret (MacIssac) MacDonald and son-in-law of the late James and Dorothy Orr. Martin was employed by the Cape Breton District School Board as custodian of St. Michael’s High School for over 35 years. Martin was also an important member of the Glace Bay Fire Department for over 35 years. He held many ranks in the department before retiring as chief. He was well known in the town of Glace Bay, and will be remembered for his dedication to both the G.B.F.D. and St. Michael’s School. He was a devoted member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church and was a man of strong faith. Martin is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Agnes (Orr) MacDonald, daughter, Karry (Roger) Martins, Brampton, Ont.; sons, Jamie MacDonald, Glace Bay, Robbie (Shaunna) MacDonald, Orangeville, Ont.; brothers, Sandy (Linda) MacDonald, Glace Bay, Lorne (Carol) MacDonald, Truro; his two granddaughters, Emily and Victoria, Brampton, Ont. and his grandson, Andrew, Orangeville, Ont. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 5, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Curry’s Funeral Home in Glace Bay. Funeral mass will be held Friday, May 6, 2016, 10 a.m. at St. Anne’s Church, Glace Bay. Interment will be in the parish cemetery at a later date. A reception will be held at the Glace Bay Fire Hall. Emily Westelaken It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Emily (nee Calvert) after a brief illness. Beloved wife of Wes for 52 years, they shared a love and devotion to each other that was truly inspiring to behold. Emily will be greatly missed by her sister, Flora Bishop; her nieces, Kathy and Eleanor and her nephews, Cal, Stuart and Loren; as well as by their children, Fraser, Laura, Amy, Sara, Mark, Kara and Shannon and great-great nieces and nephews, Lillian, Gemma, Hadley, Emily, Kayla and Jacob. Born Jan. 12, 1961, he was the son of Shirley (Mitchell) White and the late Gordon ‘Moe’ White. Blair worked in Ontario and then moved to Calgary where he worked for 13 years. Upon moving back home he enjoyed spending time with his family. In his younger years, he loved to have a good game of hockey or baseball. Blair was a true Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Jays fan. Blair enjoyed going to the club to chat and have a good game of pool with his buddies. Surviving are his mother, Shirley; sisters, Brenda White, Doreen (Blair) Cole; niece, Kimberley Cole (Noel); nephews, Corey and Bradley Smith (Krista); great niece Candace and great nephews, Brandon Cole, Neil and Colin Smith. He is also survived by special friend, Murial Lockman, her daughter Helene, and her grandson Micha. He was predeceased by his father Gordon ‘Moe’ White and brother Gordon ‘Bimbo’. Clarence 'Sonny' 'Yonna' Kelloway Born In: Glace Bay Passed in: Bathurst, New Brunswick, Canada Passed on: April 27th, 2016 It is with great sadness we wish to announce the death of Clarence ‘Sonny’ ‘Yonna’ Kelloway on April 27, 2016 in Bathurst, N.B. Born in Glace Bay, C.B., N.S., he was the son of the late Joe & Marion (Payne) Kelloway. He leaves to mourn his wife, Dora Alice ‘D.A.’ (MacDonald) Plourde of Bathurst, N.B.; one daughter, Karen Thomas and her mother, Doris of Dartmouth, N.S.; two sons, Robert and Steven of Calgary, Alta; four grandchildren, Amanda, Jamie, Robert Jr. and Mathew; one brother, Murray (Joan) of Cole Harbour, N.S.; four sisters, Thelma MacDonald and Colette MacPhee of Glace Bay, Cape Breton, N.S., Diane McMillan of Hamilton, Ont., Marion Madore (Nolie) of Fort MacMurray, Alta.; one brother in-law, Jimmy (Jackie) Vacheresse of Lower Sackville, N.S.; many nieces and nephews.
