Born in Glace Bay, Anne was the daughter of the late Jim and Mary (Burns) Fraser. “Ma” worked hard making our family house a home. She was an incredible baker and always had the teapot on for family and friends to enjoy. Ma was an active member of St. Anne’s Church and weekly volunteer at Town House. She loved a good game of cards, her daily visits to the local stores and having conversations with people wherever she went. She and Da knew every street in the municipality from their daily drives and danced many the night away at local dances which we are sure they are now doing again. We take comfort in the fact knowing she is back with Da whom she missed with all her heart. Ma is survived by her children, Bernard (Geanne), Gilbert (Peggy), Allyson (Ken), special son, Robbie McKinnon, nine grandchildren, Ryan, Roger, Cady, Nate, Ashley, Bev, Mitchell, Koby, Ethan and a great grandson, Owen. Also surviving are sisters, Ruth, Helen, brothers, Wayne (Kay), Cameron, (Anna), Aunt Clara, many nieces, nephews and a special friend, Thelma. Anne was predeceased by her husband and soulmate, Gilbert Boone, in October of 2014 and two children, Blair and Mary, in infancy, whom she often spoke of. Following Ma’s wishes there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Glace Bay. A celebration of Ma’s life will take place on Thursday, June 2, at 10 a.m. in St. Anne’s Church followed by a reception in the church foyer. Fr. Leo Boone officiating. Interment will take place in the parish cemetery. We would like to extend special thanks for the amazing care Ma received during her illness including, Fr. Norman MacPhee, Dr. Burns and Lynn Gillis (palliative care) and three incredible nurses who provided such compassion and care, Angela Deveaux, Lauren Popwell and Liz MacInnis.
