Clements - 88 yrs Gary Hoeg - Memorial Service Beryl Marie Milley - Jane Emily Hodgson - 71 yrs - Celebration of Life Anna May Walsh - 89 yrs Delima Marie Woodsworth Delima Marie (Richard Hughes) Woodsworth passed away peacefully May 16, 2016 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by family and friends. Born in Richibucto, N.B., in 1939, she was the daughter of Jean-Baptiste Richard and Marie Lucie (Robichaud) Richard. She is survived by her son, Edward, Sydney; daughters, Susan Hughes, Edmonton, and Jennifer, Albert Bridge; three beautiful granddaughters, Cynthia, Sophia and Nryth; sister Bernadette (Mike) Murphy, Miramichi, N.B.; brothers, Charles (Annabelle) Richard, Moncton, N.B., and Ernest (Shirley) Robichaud, Lunenburg County. She was predeceased by her parents; her stepmother Emilienne Richard; husbands Carl Hughes and Edward Woodsworth; and sister Rosalie Richard. She was an avid crafter most of her life until she could no longer work with her hands. She enjoyed life to the fullest and loved being surrounded by family and friends. There will be no visitation or funeral as per her request. There will be a private burial service at a later date. Our mother donated her remains to Dalhousie School of Medical Research. Walter 'Wally' Pendergast Born In: Georges River Born: January 21st, 1960 Passed in: North Sydney Passed on: May 17th, 2016 It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, brother and uncle, John Walter ‘Wally’ Pendergast, age 56, on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax. Born in Georges River on Jan. 21, 1960, Wally was the son of the late Francis Xavier and Priscilla Jean (Young) Pendergast. Wally was employed with the Department of Highways and a member of the Local Labourers Union 1115. He was well known as a pizza delivery man and loved pizza and Pepsi. He was a huge Chicago Black Hawks fan, enjoyed playing pool and was an avid dart player and belonged to various dart leagues on the Northside. He was also a member of the Northern Yacht Club. Wally is survived by his loving companion Wanda Luker and daughter Paige Pendergast; his two stepsons Blayne and Austin Luker; his brothers Alex (Valerie) Pendergast, Sydney River, Wayne (Ann) Young, Southside Boularderie; his two sisters Leona (Darrell) MacIsaac, Sydney Mines, Kathy (Donnie) Fitzgerald, Big Baddeck; a special nephew Justin; several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are his aunts Mildred Jollimore, Terrance Bay, N.S., Maude (Bill) Broussard, Sydney, Phyllis Brookman, Whitney Pier and a special friend Mary Ann Sampson. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Danny Pendergast and one brother in infancy. Visitation for Wally will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Saturday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Cremation will follow. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Church, Bras d’Or, with Rev. Jake Andrea officiating. Clements Passed in: Glace Bay Passed on: May 19th, 2016 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father, Chester Clements, 88, at the Glace Bay Hospital on Thursday, May 19, 2016. Chester is survived by his wife Reta (Bond); two daughters, Cathy (John McInnis), Colleen (Sheldon O’Donnell) and one son Terry (Brenda Brufatto) all of Glace Bay. Also surviving are 10 Grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents Laura and George Clements, sisters, Nita Matheson (Donnie) and Kay Huestis (Roland). As per his wishes, there will be no visitation. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Patten Funeral Home, Glace Bay. A private family service will be held at a later date. Beryl Marie Milley Born In: Glace Bay Passed in: Glace Bay Passed on: May 18th, 2016 It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mother, nana, great nana and sister Beryl (Brewer) Milley on May 18, 2016 at Harbour Stone Enhanced Care- surrounded by her loving family and her special family of four years who affectionately called her mother. Born in Glace Bay, she was the eldest daughter of the late Percy and Vivian (Wood) Brewer. Beryl was a former member of Rebekah Lodge, loved to be on the go with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed skating, bowling, swimming and a good game of cards. She especially enjoyed her time spent at the bungalow in Mira Gut where she loved to entertain and have a feed of lobster and crab, many fond memories were made at the beach in Mira Gut with Beryl, her friends and family. Beryl is survived by her children, Bev Smith, Estelle (Gary) Wadman, Sheldon, Wayne, life-time friend Joyce Anderson and daughter-in-law Liz; grandchildren, Terry (Christa) Shaun, Dawn (Kurt), Tiffany (Justin), Ryan (Christin), Cory (Eileen), Kandace, Emily, Jess, Phyllis and Natasha (Wayne); 12 special great-grandchildren, Emiley, Leah, Sarah, Olivia, Gavin, Kevin, Alexis, Braden, Torey, Jamie, Baillie and Andrew; brothers, George (Amber), Hubba (Vina), Barry (Karen) and Brian; sisters, Ginny, Irene, Linda (Blayne) and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband David and special sister-in-law, Donna Brewer. Visitation for Beryl will take place on Sunday, May 22, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay. Funeral service will take place on Monday, May 23 at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Anglican Church. Family flowers only, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society or charity of ones choice. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. Jane was born in Port aux Basque, Newfoundland in 1944 to the late Michael and Blanch (Musseau) Seymour. Jane came to Cape Breton; met Earl and the rest is history. They made their home in Huntington where they enjoyed retirement. Jane was an active member of the community volunteering her time at Two Rivers Wild Life Park. She loved to be Mrs. Clause and Fright Night was one of the highlights of the season. She ran the park canteen for four years and loved it. Jane is survived by her husband of 52 years Earl; sons, Richard (Judy) and Keith (Mary Lynn); grandsons, Mitchell, Liam and Jake; brothers, Charles (Irene), Bert (Colleen), Leonard, Donald (Geneva), Raymond, Llewellyn (Debbie), Gordon (Sherry), David (Jeanie); sisters, Phyllis Osmond, Margaret Hodgson (John), Vera Penny, Eileen Sampson, Pearl Barron and Bobby, as well as many nieces, nephews and good friends. Jane was predeceased by her parents, twin sister at birth, infant sister Violet and brothers, Michael, Gary and Percy. Anna May Walsh Passed in: Neil's Harbour Passed on: May 15th, 2016 It is with joyful tears and broken hearts, that we announce the reunion of our mother with our father on May 15, 2016. A mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Anna May Walsh , 89, passed away peacefully at Highland Manor, Neil's Harbour. She was the daughter of the late George Murray and Annie Kennena (MacDermid) MacLeod, Wreck Cove. As a young teenager, mom moved to Sydney with her family and it was there where she met and married our father. Mom was a member of First United Church, Sydney, and a member of the "Club Girls," which was a true friendship lasting over 50 years. She was the core of our family that kept everyone united and called to check in on a regular basis. Our mother, a compassionate, warm-spirited homemaker, always lent a helping hand to those in need. Whether offering a warm meal or a place to stay, the door was always open to friends and family. In her early years, during the day she also cared for 12 children whom she adored as if they were her own. She had an incredible smile and sense of humour. Her laughter was contagious. She is survived by her daughter, Debbie (George) Burton, Alberta; sons, George (Claudia) Walsh, Englishtown; Lawrence (Jean) Walsh, South Harbour; Kenneth Walsh, Sydney. Grandchildren, Shelley (Andy) Barter, Calgary; Scott (Jennifer) Walsh, Florida; Stephanie (Leo) Milley, Alberta; Jennifer (Tim), Sydney; Annie (Justin), Halifax; Kyle Walsh, Sydney. Great-grandchildren, Sarah, Faith and Grace, Leo and Alexis. Also she is survived by many nieces and nephews here in Cape Breton and British Columbia. Mom is the last surviving member of her immediate family. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband of 67 years, Reginald Walsh; sister, Ray Collier and brother, Allister MacLeod. Many heartfelt thanks to Highland Manor and Buchanan Memorial Hospital staff for their care and compassion shown to our mother over the past four years. As per mom's wishes, in lieu of flowers, a donation could be made to the Highland Manor, Community Homeless Shelter, or a charity of your choice. Cremation has taken place and visitation will be held Sunday, May 22, 2016, from 1-2 p.m. with a service following at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel at S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney with special niece, Rev. Roslyn MacLeod officiating. Interment to follow in Hardwood Hill Cemetery. As mom always said “See you in the movies.”
