Born in Montreal, he was a son of Ethel (Aucoin) Cormier and the late Arsene Henri Cormier. Dear brother of Daniel, Brantford, ON and Richard (Colleen), Etobicoke, ON. He is also survived by nieces and nephews Mark, Sarah (Justin), Peyton, Ben, Thomas and Amanda. He will be deeply missed by his godparents Muriel and Philip Bell and his cousins Andrew (Vera), Adrian, Dana and Debra (Mark). The body was cremated. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, July 16th at 10:30 a.m. in St. Peter's Church, Cheticamp. Burial in the parish cemetery. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. MacDONALD It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Donald Francis MacDonald, Thursday, June 2nd, 2016, in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital. Donald was born in Inverness on May 8th, 1944 to the late Colin and Veronica MacDonald. Donald left Inverness at an early age for work in Ontario, where he met and married his wife Bernice (Hannigan) MacDonald. Together, they followed their dream to return home to Inverness, where he worked at Evans Coal Mine until retirement. Donald played a large role in his family and touched so many , especially his nieces and nephews. Donald was very close with his siblings. He was a great supporter of family reunions and gatherings and a frequent host of the annual MacDonald Horseshoe Tournament. Donald had an affinity for the outdoors and he excelled in all outdoor sports and activities. Donald’s love for music was expressed through his dancing. Donald is survived by his beloved wife Bernice and siblings Jimmy (Marion), Ernest (Marcella), Mary Jane MacNeil (Ron, deceased), Bill (Leona), Collette Poirier (Charles, deceased), Tony (Julia), Patsy Woodburn (Howard), and Colin (Donna). Donald is also survived by 34 nieces and nephews, 62 grandnieces and grandnephews, and five great- grandnieces and great-grandnephews. He was predeceased by parents Colin and Veronica MacDonald and siblings Annie Page (John), Charlie (Dorothy, deceased), Donna Brain (Lyndon); parents-in-law Jimmy and Clara Hannigan; sister-in-law Lorine Hannigan MacEachern (Daniel); and nephew Patrick MacEachern. Visitation was held in Inverness Funeral Home, Sunday, June 5th, 2016. Funeral Mass was held Monday, June 6th, 2016 at St. Margaret of Scotland, Broad Cove with Father Duncan MacIsaac officiating. Burial followed in the St. Margaret of Scotland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Central Inverness Palliative Care Society or to a charity of your choice.
