Daughter of James and Annie (Monaghan) Stewart. She trained as a nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Hamilton, Ontario where she worked for a time before moving to Port Hood, Nova Scotia. There she worked at the Inverary Manor and then the Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband, Colin Alexander MacKay of the Shore Road, Port Hood, NS. She is survived by her brother James Stewart and predeceased by her sister Eva (Shannon) and brothers Herbert, Gordon, Edward, and William. Cremation has taken place. Her ashes will return to Port Hood where a funeral Mass will take place on Monday, July 4th, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. Following she will be laid to rest in St. Peter’s Parish Cemetery MacPHERSON We, the family of Donald James MacPherson, are saddened by his passing on Tuesday, June 14th, 2016. Butchie, or "The Captain" as he was fondly known to many, was born November 19th,1933, to Veronica (MacDonald) MacPherson and Angus MacPherson. Beside his parents, Butchie was predeceased by brothers Hector and Angus (the late Mary Mac Leod); sisters Annie Mae (the late Bobby Skinner), Marie (the late Roddie MacIsaac), and Sharon (Edwin Tompkins). Butchie is survived by brothers Billy (the late Anne Gillis), Sudbury, ON; and Allan, Dartmouth, NS; and sisters Corrine (the late Francis MacDonald), Jean (the late Charlie MacDonald ), both of Inverness; and Dolores Donovan (Bobby) Boston, MA. Butchie was a quiet, humble man with an even temperament. He loved to sing and play guitar, especially with his close friend Peter MacFarlane of Forest Street. Funeral Mass was held Monday, June 21st, 2016, with Father Duncan MacIsaac officiating. A light lunch followed at the Inverness Fire Hall. Butchie was laid to rest with his family at the Stella Maris Church Cemetery, Inverness.
