Hull - 72 yrs Eugene Joseph Peck Wagmatcook First Nation It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear son, brother, uncle, nephew and great friend to many, Eugene Joseph Peck of Wagmatcook First Nation. Eugene passed away peacefully in the morning of June 2, 2016, surrounded by his brothers, sister, friends and family, after a six-month battle with cancer, at the Victoria County Memorial Hospital in Baddeck. Born in Baddeck on Feb. 24, 1959, he was the son of Benjamin Peck Sr. and the late Elizabeth (Francis) Peck. Eugene was a member of the Blessed Kateri Tekawitha parish, Wagmatcook. Eugene is survived by his brothers, Leonard, Anthony, Roger (Angela), Ben (Martha), Calvin, Lester (Ann), all of Wagmatcook; sister, Jane Elizabeth, Wagmatcook; aunt, Jean Peck, Eskasoni; godchildren, Frances Helen Googoo, Lucas Isadore, Anthony Ryan Stevens and Elaine Stevens. Eugene considered Benedict Pierro Sr., Wagmatcook and Florence (Pierro) Phillips, Maine, USA, as his brother and sister; godmother, Martha Isadore. He was predeceased by maternal grandmother, Annie C. Pierro; paternal grandparents, Mary Susan Isadore and Abraham Peck, Eskasoni; sisters, Martha and Sandra; brothers, Abraham, Gregory and Cyril; nephews, Cyrus, Joshua and Nilan; nieces, Elizabeth Ann, Cyndi Joy, Vanessa, (twins) Angelica and Angelina; godfather, Roddie Pierro. Eugene loved playing TV bingo. He liked listening to the oldies. Eugene would go to the pilgrimage to St. Anne de Beaupre some years ago, as well. Eugene was his dad’s caregiver until he got sick a few months ago. His best friend, Ronald Stevens Jr., will miss him also. We would like to thank Molly Pierro and Fr. Paul Abbass for the prayers at the hospital. Thanking Kim Denny for doing up the memorial cards and Chief Norman Bernard for all his help. Many thanks to Audrey and Vera Pierro for being there for us and the catering. Also a huge thank you to Eugene’s favourite nurse, Jackie Doucette, from the palliative care unit in Sydney. Hall Passed in: Sydney Passed on: May 31st, 2016 We regret to announce the sudden passing of Joseph A. Hall, 68, on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Joe Hall, as he was affectionately known to all, was born in Sydney Mines on Nov. 15, 1947. He was the son of Mary (Beaton) Hall Day, and the late Archibald Hall. Joe worked for many years for Devco, until his retirement. He played ball and bowled when he was able. He was very well known in the community, and mowed many lawns over the years. Joe enjoyed good food, laughs with his buddies, and driving around. He adored his fur baby, Gina. Joe’s family would like to thank his neighbours and friends who were always so good to him. Joe leaves behind to mourn his mother Mary, special friend Linn Evraire, brothers Murray, Glen, Donnie, Vincent and George, and sisters Rodina Bond, Frances Russell, and Valarie Parks. Joe also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles, and many friends. Besides his father Archie, Joe was predeceased by his brother, Laurence and niece, Tracey Bond. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. A graveside memorial service will take place on Monday, June 6, 2016, at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph Cemetery, Sydney Mines, with Deacon Greg Murphy officiating. Everyone is welcome to attend. Adalaine (Cadwell) Dyet Born In: Alder Point Passed in: Port Colborne, Ontario, Canada Passed on: June 3rd, 2016 Adalaide (nee Cadwell) Dyet of Port Colborne passed away at the Welland County General Hospital on Friday, June 3, 2016. Beloved wife of the late Robert Dyet (2007), loving mother of Judy Dyet-Tykoliz (Greg) of Port Colborne and Roberta Sauder (Kent) of Fort Erie, dear grandmother of six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; sister of Vinnie Marks of Cape Breton, N.S. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Beside her husband she was predeceased by her parents, George and Alice Cadwell; sisters, Florence Marks, Marjorie Theriault and Kathleen Munroe and brothers, Joseph, Stanley and James Cadwell. Born in Alder Point, Cape Breton she has lived in this area since 1947. She was a member of St. James & St. Brendan Anglican Church.
