Warren - 87 yrs Thomas Patrick Hearn - 59 yrs Marie Adèle Poirier Born In: Cheticamp Born: April 19th, 1929 Passed in: Cheticamp Passed on: February 8th, 2016 Marie Adèle Poirier, 86, of Foyer Père Fiset, Cheticamp, died Feb. 8. 2016, at Foyer Père Fiset. Born in Cheticamp on April, 19, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Patrick 'Paddé' and Marie Anne (LeFort) Roach. Also known as Marie Adèle, mom worked in various jobs in her lifetime, more notably at the NDA school as janitor for over 15 years until her retirement. She was a lady of strong faith and a true believer in the power of prayer. She was a member of Les Dames de Sainte Anne, Le Club des Retraités and a past director of La Cooperative Artisanale de Cheticamp. She was well-known for her scenic hooked rugs, with some of her works presented to provincial and federal dignitaries, this was her true passion from a very young age, until her final days. She will always be remembered for her generosity, her love of laughter and loving dedication towards family and friends. A sincere thank you to the staff of the Foyer Père Fiset for an amazing 10 years of care and compassion towards mom and dad. She is survived by three sons, Rémi (Marie), Robertville, N.B., Xavier (Ginette), Cheticamp, and Neil, Cheticamp; three daughters, Bessie (Chester) LeLievre, Cheticamp, Velma (Paul) Ulrich, Howie Centre, Camella Roach, Cheticamp; brother, Paul (Emilia) Roach, Cheticamp; sister, Maria (John Robichaud) Dodge, Cheticamp; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her husband Joseph E. Poirier (2012), son-in-law Claude Roach (2008), brother Alphonse Roach (1959), sister Helene Aucoin (2013). David James MacAulay Born In: South Bar Born: July 22nd, 1946 Passed in: Coxheath Passed on: February 9th, 2016 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of David MacAulay. Dave passed away peacefully at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016, after a brief battle with cancer. Born July 22, 1946, in South Bar, Dave was the son of the late George Osmond and Dolena Mae (Durrah) MacAulay. In 1972, Dave joined the RCMP. While in the RCMP, he was stationed in Windsor, Ont., Toronto, Ont., Chatham, Ont. and finally retired from the drug directorate in Ottawa, Ont. Dave loved the outdoors - hunting, fishing and hiking in Baddeck with his dog, Nikki at his side. He is survived by his wife, Cecile (Gouthro); sister, Sally Heather (Daniel), Montreal, Que.; sisters-in-law, Pat Horvath and Roberta MacAulay, Sydney; brothers-in-law, Michael Gouthro (Elizabeth), Fort McMurray, Alta. and Gerard Gouthro, Grande Cache, Alta., as well, as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Dave was predeceased by his brother, Darryll and brother-in-law, John Horvath. Cremation has taken place. As per Dave’s wishes, there will be no visitation and a private family service will be held at a later date. Frank Wayne (Six Pack) Smith Passed in: Brampton, Canada Passed on: February 5th, 2016 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Wayne Smith on Feb. 5, 2016 at the age of 62. Eldest son of the late Frank Gillis Smith and Katherine (MacCormick) Smith, brother of Gary Smith (Betsy) and Wendy Krajnc (Brian) passed away quietly at Brampton Hospital. Sadly missed by daughter Lexi and granddaughter Trish. Cremation has taken place in Brampton. A memorial will be held at a later date in Grand Mira South. Mansell E. Warren Born In: North Sydney Born: May 22nd, 1920 Passed in: North Sydney Passed on: February 9th, 2016 It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of our father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Mansell Ernest Warren, age 87, on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016 at the Northside General Hospital. Mansell was born on May 22, 1928 in North Sydney, the son of the late Ernest and Isabel (Clarke) Warren. He was employed with Cape Breton Regional Housing for 25 years and with Marine Atlantic for 43 years until his retirement. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney. His favoirite hobby was making crafts and building replicas of the “Bluenose” schooner which have been purchased by people from all over the world. Mansell was a member of the Royal Albert Masonic Lodge #19, the Philae Temple, Cape Breton Shrine Club, the York Right, Scottish Right, Royal Cape Breton Conclave, and the Orange Lodge. He was also a member of the Northern Yacht Club and a volunteer fireman with the North Sydney Fire Department for 35 years. Mansell is survived by his sons, Allan Warren, Arthur Warren, David (Ann Marie) Warren and Harold Collier; his daughters, Tina LeMoine and Jean (Paul) Jenkins, all of North Sydney; his grandchildren, Alana (John), Sydney, Heather (Chris), Halifax, Lisa, Truro, Michael and Gregory, North Sydney; his brother Calvin (Rachel) Warren, Sydney Mines, and sister Beulah (Cecil) Ashe, Sydney and his brother-in-law Rev. George Allen, Bridgetown and a number of nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Mansell was predeceased by his loving wife of 59 years in September 2015, Mabel Etta (Allen) Warren, his sisters Alma Moquinn, Muriel Stoodley, Audrey Lacroix and Mildred Blyth, his daughter-in-law Denise Warren and son-in-law Roy LeMoine. The family would like to thank Dr. John Kirkpatrick for his care over the years and the nursing staff on 4West at the Northside General Hospital. Passed on: January 26th, 2016 We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden passing of our dear brother, Thomas Patrick Hearn on Jan. 26, 2016, at the age of 59. Tommy passed at Collingwood General and Marine Hospital with his sister Ada and her fiance Jim at his side. He was born and raised in Sydney, N.S. to the late Mary (Brewer) Hearn Poirier and Thomas P. Hearn. He was a painter, fisherman, a steelworker and a metal fabricator. Tommy was the type of man that left a lasting impression on anyone who met him. He was a very intelligent man with a kind soul and a heart of gold. He loved his family and his friends deeply. He loved books, history, crosswords, card games, canoeing and being in the outdoors. Left to mourn are his sisters, Ada (Jim), Josie, Theresa (David); brothers, Dennis (Freda), John (Loretta), Cyril (Sandra); our ‘love sisters’ Alberta & Evelyn, many nieces and nephews and dear friends. Besides his parents he was predeceased by our older sister, Edna Hearn Williams in Sept. 2015. Tommy’s wishes were to be cremated and taken home to rest with our parents. A dual Celebration of Life for Tommy and Edna will be held Feb.13th at the Menelik Hall, Whitney Pier, beginning at 2 p.m. with an evening social to follow.
