Born in New Waterford, he was a son of 'Miss' Betty (Stepaniak) and the late Lester MacLean. Eddy was employed with Devco for 25 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing at his favourite spot in Gabarus. Eddy especially loved his family, namely his grandson Ryan, who was like a best buddy to him. Surviving are his wife, Cheryl 'Cherie' (MacPherson); daughters Renee, New Waterford and Jacklyn, Kelowna, B.C.; son David (Kelly), Port Elgin, Ont; brother Ernie, Calgary; sisters Cynthia (Bryan) Micholski, Celeste MacLean (Ronnie), both of New Waterford, Cheryl (Greg) Lynch, Tiburon, California, Charlene MacLean, Tara Lynn MacLean, both of Calgary; grandchildren Ryan, Eva, and Avery. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 23 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Father Ray Huntley officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall, King Street, New Waterford. Donations in his memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. Robert 'Herman' Kelly Born In: North Sydney Born: January 26th, 1959 Passed in: Sydney Passed on: February 17th, 2016 With sadness, we the family of Robert Harrison Kelly, regret to announce his sudden passing on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2016, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born Jan. 26, 1959, in North Sydney, he was a son of Noreen (Kay) Kelly and the late Harrison Kelly. Herman worked as a charter at Northside Downs. His passions included harness racing, gardening and swimming in his backyard oasis or out at the river. Herman is survived by his wife, Cheryl (McKinnon); sisters, Aileen (Dave Phalen) Kelly-Devoe, Big Bras d’Or and Sharon (Dave) Kelly-Creith, Ont.; brothers, Brian (Beth), Ont. and David “Crocker” (Charlene), P.E.I.; father-in-law, Byron McKinnon; special niece and grandnephew, Julie Anne Carew and her son, Jace; several nieces, nephews and extended McKinnon family. Besides his father, Herman was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Eileen McKinnon, sister-in-law, Colleen Campbell-Kelly and brother-in-law, Eugene Devoe. Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Friday 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at St. Matthew Wesley United Church, North Sydney on Saturday 11 a.m., with Rev. Nancy Ritchie officiating. Interment at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Howie Center Volunteer Fire Department or St. Matthew Wesley United Church. Catherine Jean Organ Born In: Toronto, Canada Born: June 9th, 1933 Passed in: North Sydney, Canada Passed on: February 17th, 2016 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our wife, mother, grandmother and sister, Catherine Jean Organ, age 82, on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2016, at home surrounded by her family. Catherine was born on June 9, 1933 in Toronto, Ont. the was a daughter of the late James and Catherine (Brown) Morrison. She was an Avon sales representative for over 40 years and in 2002 received the Presidents Club Award. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney. At one time she enjoyed the ladies club playing cards and going to bingo games and was a former member of the North Sydney Senior Citizens & Pensioners Club. Catherine is survived by her husband Philip Organ; her three sons, William James Organ and Mark Troy (Marie) Organ, both of North Sydney, Philip Thomas (Lynn) Organ, Vancouver Island; her daughter Catherine (Lorne) Bond, North Sydney; her eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; her sister Margaret Rose (Jack) Organ, Maple, Ont. Besides her parents, Catherine was predeceased by her son Eric Davies Organ and a brother Norman Morrison. A sincere thank you to the VON, the Northside Homemakers and Palliative Care of Cape Breton for the care and compassion shown to Catherine throughout her illness. Visitation for Catherine will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral service to be held at 3 p.m. Monday at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church with Rev. Julio Martin officiating. Burial will take place at Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney at a later date.
