Graham was a loving husband, father, brother and Grampie. He was the son of Murdo and Kay (Paterson) MacCuspic. His ambition for work took him to Western and Northern Canada but he returned home to his beloved Grand River to raise a family and follow his true passion as a lobster/crab fisherman. Graham was a kind, mild mannered man who was quick to lend a hand to those who needed it and he never shunned hard work. He was known for his big smile and hearty laugh. He had a great sense of humour and enjoyed hearing and telling a good joke. Graham was very proud of all his children and passed on to them many great qualities by the way he lived his life. He loved spending time with his granddaughters who were his pride and joy. In his earlier years Graham was a member of the Grand River Fire Department and the cemetery committee. Clayton 'Bud' Guy Born In: North Sydney Passed in: North Sydney Passed on: February 12th, 2016 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Clayton 'Bud' Guy on Friday, Feb. 12, 2016 in the An Cala Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with his loving family by his side. Born in North Sydney, Bud was the son of the late Captain Clayton and Eileen (Cooke) Guy. Bud was a loving husband, father and proud grandfather. He was a member of St. Joseph Church in North Sydney and a Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Father William Kiely Council 5109. He was a sheet metal worker by trade and was employed in the construction industry for many years. Bud was a very talented 'Jack of all Trades' who was always available to lend a hand to anyone in need. Although construction was his livelihood, photography was his passion. It wasn’t uncommon to see him waiting for that ‘perfect shot’. Bud was a quiet and unassuming man who was known for his easy going nature and dry sense of humour. “Grampy Buddy” was very proud of his two beautiful granddaughters and cherished every moment spent with them. He enjoyed the simple things that life had to offer; spending time with family, watching hockey games at the Whalen house, reading and a good cup of tea. Dad especially treasured his time spent at the cabin in Middle River. To say Dad was an avid Leaf’s fan would be an understatement. Bud is survived by his spouse and the love of his life of 42 years, Maureen (Whalen); daughters, Kathleen (Dave) Williams, North Sydney, and Erinn (Jerry), Sydney; and by his precious granddaughters, Emily and Julia Williams. He is also survived by his brother, Calvin (Nancy), Windsor; sisters, Florence MacGregor, Santa Barbara, Calif., and Anita (Matthew) Doucette, St. Catharines; nieces Michelle Procter and Tracey O’Handley (Kenny); nephews Scott (Linda) Guy, Matt Doucette, Jr. (Debbie) and Corey O’Handley (Erin); great nieces Jessica, Rebecca and Victoria and great nephew, Clayton. Bud is also survived by his Whalen Family: mother-in-law Madonna; brothers-in-law Richard (Grace) and Shaun Whalen; sisters-in-law Vera (Keith) Ruttle, Ann and Denise Whalen; special nieces Brianna Murphy and Oliva Dahl and many extended family members. Bud will also be forever missed by the Power family with whom he shared a special lifelong bond; and his longtime friend, Bill Luffman. Besides his parents, Bud was predeceased by his brother, Gordon, father-in-law Kevin Whalen, and brothers-in-law John MacGregor and K.O. Whalen. Heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to everyone who took care of Buddy especially the nurses and physicians in the Renal Clinic, 4A and An Cala at the Cape Breton Reginal Hospital. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral mass will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, North Sydney with Rev. Patrick O’Neill and Rev. Joe Gillis Officiating. Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Renal Dialysis Clinic or the An Cala Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Lorraine 'Gail' (McAuley) MacCormack Born In: Québec, Canada Born: October 5th, 1942 Passed in: Glace Bay Passed on: February 13th, 2016 With sadness we announce the passing of Gail MacCormack, on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Gail was born in Chateauguay, Que., on Oct. 5, 1942 to Bob and Lucille (Doyle) McAuley. She received her high school diploma before moving on to Miss Brown’s Finishing School and received her college diploma. Gail worked for Air Canada where she met and fell in love with Bill the love of her life. They married in 1963 and were blessed with two children Brent and Kellie. Gail loved life and really enjoyed having a good belly laugh. She especially loved to play crib and “bish”. Her best moments were when she played against Rubin Skinner and Francis Chishlom at Branch 53 Legion. Gail’s second love was Cape Breton, while on a visit with Bill’s parents in 1961, she fell in love with everything Cape Breton had to offer. During that visit she met her life-long friend Thelma MacLellan. Back in Montreal she said that some day I am moving to Cape Breton. In 1967 Bill managed a transfer to Sydney Airport, they settled in Glace Bay and the rest is history. While visiting friends in Big Harbour, Gail made up her mind that this was the place to retire, so in 1989, they packed up and moved to Big Harbour and loved every minute of it. Gail enjoyed ice fishing and sometimes she even caught fish. Gail was employed with Marine Atlantic in North Sydney and retired in 2002. Bill and Gail moved back to Glace Bay in 2014. Gail enjoyed Irish music, watching her beloved Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Blue Jays. She also enjoyed watching curling. Gail is survived by her husband Bill, and her pride and joy Brent (Lilly Zhao), Toronto and Kellie (Wayne) MacKenzie, Calgary; grandchildren Allison, Michael, Abigail and Allister; brothers Ross, Brian, both of Montreal. She was predeceased by her parents Bob and Lucille, and her parents-in-law, Elmer and Sarah. A memorial service will take place in the summer of 2016. Memorials may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
