Born in Burnt Islands, Nfld. on June 19, 1935, he was the son of the late Clemeth and Nora (Smurrage) Organ. Job fished all of his life in Newfoundland and Nova Scotia and loved to have a fun game of cards. He is survived by his two sisters, Selina (Don) Hatcher, Ruby (Ross) Whitman, many nieces and nephews and his special friend, Theresa Marsh. Job was predeceased by three sisters, Ella Mae (Bill) Munden, Viola (Raymond) Burton and Vera, and by brothers, Jim (Dorcas), Gordon and Bradley. There will be no visitation by request. A graveside service will take place at a later date in Lakeside Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Robert William 'Bob' Skinner Born In: Inverness, Canada Born: February 23rd, 1944 Passed in: Sydney Passed on: February 16th, 2016 It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the death of Robert William Skinner on Tuesday, Feb.16, 2016 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by his loving family. He was 71 years of age. Born in Inverness on Feb. 23, 1944, Robert was the son of the late Gertrude MacLellan (MacMaster) and the late Roy Skinner. Through the years he worked as a draftsman and instrumentation inspector prior to being employed with the Cape Breton County for 18 years. He was a member of many committees and organizations within the community having received the Citizen of the Year award in 1982. Robert will always be remembered for his jovial disposition and his love of family. Robert is survived by his loving wife, the former Georgette Gallant; daughter, Carla (Dean) Usher, Ottawa; sons, Roy (Danielle), Halifax, Robbie, Ottawa and David (Irene), Ottawa and by his six grandchildren, whom he dearly treasured and loved, Gracie, Brady, Dane, Sydney, Cadence and Sawyer. He is also survived by his brothers, Don (Glenn), Delaware; Roy (Agnes), Niagara on the Lakes and sister, Carole, Ottawa. His grandchildren and nieces and nephews always felt extra special around Robert. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his stepfather, Donald MacLellan; his sister, Cathy (Henry) Jantzen and brother, Alex MacLellan. Visitation for the late Mr. Skinner will take place on Friday, Feb. 19 from 7-9 p.m. at T.W.Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 20 at Holy Rosary Church, Westmount, with Fr. Doug Murphy officiating. George 'Googer' Bona Born In: North Sydney Born: September 15th, 1925 Passed in: Sydney Passed on: February 14th, 2016 It is with heartfelt sadness, the family of George Bona, age 90, announce his peaceful passing on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016 at Harbourstone Enhanced Care Facility, surrounded by his loving family. Born in North Sydney on Sept. 15, 1925, George was the son of the late John and Elizabeth (Robinson) Bona. He was a resident of Harbourstone Enhanced Care Facility since February 2012. George was employed as a stevedore with Marine Atlantic for many years until his retirement. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, North Sydney. George loved to play the fiddle and pool and was an avid skater and card player. George was the last surviving member of his immediate family. George is survived by his wife Gloria, his sons Albert, Cape Dauphin, Terrance (Linda), New Campbellton, Ronnie (Doris), Fort McMurray and daughters Julia (Judson) Wall, East Bay, Nancy (Brian) Joseph, North Sydney (currently in India); his daughter-in-law, Colleen Bona, North Sydney; his six grandchildren, Amanda, Geoffrey (Jennifer), Daniel, Katie, Justine and Sarah and one great-grandson, Dante, and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, George was predeceased by his eldest son, David in Nov. 2015; his brothers, William, Victor, Donald, Arthur, Joseph and sisters, Madeleine MacDonald, Helen Jardine, Josephine Bradbury, Marie Yetman and Eva in infancy. The family would like to thank the staff of Steelworkers Lane at Harbourstone, for the care and compassion given to George during his time there. There will be no visitation by request. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral mass for George will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 22, 2016 at St. Joseph Church with Rev. Patrick O’Neill officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. Online condolences may be sent to www.wjdooley.com David 'Zane' MacInnis Born In: Glace Bay Passed on: February 13th, 2016 It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the death of David Zane MacInnis, aged 86, of East Mountain, N.S. Zane passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of Feb. 13, 2016 after a brief illness. Raised in Glace Bay, N.S., Zane was the son of the late Donald Allan and Lydia (Turner) MacInnis. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and a gentle soul who enjoyed sharing his love of music and books with his family. He was a lifetime member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Nova Scotia, and a graduate of St. Francis Xavier University Class of '55 and Nova Scotia Technical University Class of '59. He was municipal engineer for the town of North Sydney for many years, consulting engineer for W.N. Horner & Associates of Truro, N.S., and at the time of his retirement was a project engineer for Parks Canada, Western Division in Calgary, Alta. Zane particularly enjoyed recounting the time spent in his youth as a surveyor on the D.E.W. Line project in northern Canada. Zane was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, J. Oliver, Linus, Thomas, and the Rev. Justin MacInnis. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Eileen (MacNeil); loving daughters, Leanne (Paul) Bos, Modesto, California, Cheryl (Peter) Unruh, Fort Langley, B.C., and Jennifer Erin MacInnis, East Mountain, N.S.; sisters, Joan Crowell, Karen (Robert) Hill, both of Halifax, N.S., Sheila (Guy) Richard, Edmonton, Alta., and Delia (Albert) Buffett, South Haven, N.S.; grandchildren, Marika Bos, and Virginia and William Unruh. A service for family and close friends will be held in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro. Interment to be announced at a later date. The family would like to extend special thanks to the medical staff of Colchester East Hants Regional Health Care Centre, Third Floor D Section, Truro for their efforts in making Zane's final days comfortable. Muriel Alice Halliday Born In: Parkers Cove, Canada Passed in: Sydney, Canada Passed on: February 15th, 2016 We the family of the late Muriel Halliday regret to announce her passing on Feb. 15, 2016, at the age of 99, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born in Parkers Cove, N.S., she was the daughter of the late Austin and Georgina (Milner) Weir. Muriel dedicated her life to raising her family, she also was faithful to her church and sang in choirs her whole life. She also greatly enjoyed dancing and playing bingo. Muriel is survived by her son Frank (Shirley); grandchildren, Terri (Danny) Littlewood, her caregiver, Lori (Dougie) Deveaux, Jann Halliday, John (April) Halliday, Shirlann (Corey LeBlanc) Halliday and Curtis Halliday; 12 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Lucille Halliday; sister Rosella Pye and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John Halliday, and son Wilfred, sister Bessie Melanson, and brothers Wilfred and Murray Weir. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Glen Worth. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Friday, Feb. 19, 2016 from 1-2 p.m. at Christ The King Church, George Street with funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Glen Kent officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home.
