He is survived by his parents, Mel and Angela Grover, Boularderie, NS, his brother, Chris of Calgary, and his loving partner, Allyson and their children, Caitlin and Courtney of Gatineau, Que. Cremation has taken place and a burial will be arranged in Neil['s Harbour at a later date, Lou you lots, Shane. xox John 'Jack' Penny Born In: North Sydney Born: October 17th, 1942 Passed in: North Sydney Passed on: April 6th, 2016 It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of John Joseph 'Jack' Penny, age 73, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born in North Sydney, on Oct. 17, 1942, Jack was the son of the late William and Annie Jane (Hawley) Penny. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, North Sydney. Jack was a coal miner who worked for Devco at the Prince Mine for 28 years. He was a handyman who could fix anything, whether it was carpentry, plumbing, electrical or mechanical. He is survived by his wife Claudia (Bartlett) Penny, his daughter Trina Penny (Dave), Groves Point, and his son John Alexander 'Sandy' (Shauna), Glace Bay, four grandchildren Victoria, Sierra, Anna and Brandon, his brother Ambrose 'Bud' (Nellie) Penny, North Sydney, his sister Sadie MacPherson, Sydney Mines, and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter Mary in infancy, his brothers George, Mansel, Gordon and Alexander. There will be no visitation or funeral service by his request. Arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Memorial donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Lung Association. Campbell Born In: Dominion Passed in: Sydney Passed on: April 5th, 2016 It is with profound sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, Mike Campbell, on Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at Harbourstone Enhanced Care. Born in Dominion, he was a son of the late John J. and Elizabeth (Johnston) Campbell. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Roderick, and one son, Richard. Mike is survived by his wife, Erma; two sons, Roderick (Stacey) Peace River, Alta., Robert (Wendy), Aberdeen, Sask.; six grandchildren, Tamica, Kyler, Lexie, Keane, Dax and Rory; one brother, Stephen (Marilyn), Glace Bay; several nieces and nephews. Following graduation from St. F.X he taught in Dominion, Southern N.S., Northern Quebec, returned to Louisbourg as superintendant. He then moved as superintendant to Alberta and N.W.T. He loved teaching, children and being superintendant of schools. He retired to Sydney in 2008. Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Harbourstone Enhanced Care. Cremation has taken place under the care and guidance of Curry’s Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated 2 p.m. on Monday, April 11, at St Joseph’s Church, Reserve Mines. The Rev. Daniel Boudreau will be officiating.
