Ross - 85 yrs Charles “Wayne” Corbett - 67 yrs John Vincent “Jack” Long - 83 yrs Anthony “Tony” Gatza - Peter John MacNeil - 58 yrs Marguerite Helen (Adams) MacDonald, RN - 67 yrs Annie Lamond Morrison - 98 yrs Ruby (Daley) Starrs - 49 yrs Anthony 'Tony' Gatza Born In: New Waterford Passed on: April 16th, 2016 It is with deep sadness the family announces the sudden passing their father, grandfather and brother, Anthony Gatza on April 16, 2016. Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late Larry and Bertha (Brown) Gatza. Anthony worked in the coal mines and also was a lighthouse keeper for seven years. He was a very hard worker and was a man of all trades, even though he did not have the papers to prove it. Anthony is survived by his loving wife, Lorraine, sons, John Anthony (Valerie), Winston (Jamie), Kirk (Rose), David, Melvin, Kevin (Fran); daughters, Deborah, Shauna (Ernie), Gail (Ray), Tracey and Patricia; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Annie (George) and Margie; brothers, Louis (Sis), Sonny (Brenda), Floyer and Burt. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by daughter, Ann Marie; brothers, Peter, George, Joseph, Johnny, Larry; sisters, Loretta and Theresa. Cremation has taken place and a chapel service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, April 20th at 1 p.m. with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating followed by interment in St. Jospeh’s Cemetery, New Victoria. Peter John MacNeil Passed in: Sydney Passed on: April 15th, 2016 It is with deepest sympathy that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Peter John MacNeil, age 58 on Friday, April 15, 2016 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by his family and friends. Peter was a loving father to Peter (Laura) and Erin (Bill) and a wonderful fun-loving grandfather to Emily and Liam. Peter was a hardworking man, he was employed with T.J. Demeyere Construction for over 30 years. In his spare time he enjoyed spending time with his family, playing darts and cheering on his favourite sports teams, the Boston Bruins and Boston Red Sox. Besides his children, Peter is survived by three brothers, Chris, Johnny, Michael, and three sisters, Bernadette (George), Debra, Sharon, also surviving are five brothers-in-law, Martin (Thelma), Scott (Joyce), Darrell (Danielle), Neil (Gilbreta), Donnie (Michelle), and three sisters-in-law, Kim (Edward), Judy, Janine. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews. Peter was predeceased by his loving wife, Carol on Nov. 20, 2015; parents, Mary (Flint) and John MacNeil and his mother-in-law, Eileen Price. He will be deeply missed by many family, friends and co-workers. The family would like to thank the ICU at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their kindness and compassion. Respecting Peter’s wishes there will be no visitation. A funeral mass will be held Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, Bridgeport, with Fr. Daniel Boudreau officiating. Interment in St. Eugene’s Cemetery, Dominion, at a later date. Reception to follow in the church hall. Family flowers only. Marguerite Helen (Adams) MacDonald, RN Born In: Sydney Born: March 22nd, 1948 Passed in: Bedford NS Passed on: April 17th, 2016 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Marguerite Helen MacDonald (Adams), RN, of Bedford, N.S., on Sunday, April 17, 2016. Born in Sydney on March 22, 1948, Marguerite was a daughter of the late Norman and Jean Adams. She was predeceased by her parents and brother, Keith. Marguerite was a wonderful wife to David; mother to Kerry Anne (Ian) and Lisa (Pat); grandmother to Ryan and Emma Jean; sister to Norma (Norman) and good friend to many at The Tides. She will be dearly missed by all. No visitation at her request. Funeral service will be held at Bedford United Church, 1200 Bedford Hwy, on Wednesday, April 20 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Gloria Churchill officiating. Interment in Alfred Smith Cemetery, Sydney. The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to all Palliative Care Team on 7A, VG Hospital, as well as the nursing staff on 5A who took such good care of Marguerite. Also special thanks to Rev. Annie Lamond Morrison Born: January 2nd, 1918 Passed in: Sydney Passed on: April 17th, 2016 With sadness, we the family of Annie Lamond Morrison, regret to announce her passing on Sunday, April 17, 2016, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. For the past two years, she resided at MacGillivray Guest Home, Sydney. Born Jan. 2, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Alex A. and Kate (MacDonald) MacDonald and her loving stepmother, Leah. Annie is survived by her children, Beth, Ross (Helen), Kit, Calvin (Chris), Rilla (Gary), Gail (Greg) and Gary (Ruth); sister, Gladys Lever; 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Annie was predeceased by her husband, John in 1989; son, Allie; great-granddaughter, Audrey; son-in-law, Bobby; sisters, Katherine, Marguerite, Helen and Pearl; brothers, Donald, Angus and Lauchie. Ruby (Daley) Starrs Born In: 1966 Passed in: Digby, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed on: April 16th, 2016 Ruby (Daley) Starrs, born in Sydney Mines, 1966, passed away April 16, 2016 at Digby Hospital. Predeceased by her loving grandparents, Robert and Ruby Daley of Sydney Mines. Survived by her loving husband and best friend, Dave Starrs; mother, Annie Babineau; stepfather, Maurice Babineau; brothers, Todd and Trevor. Ruby was well known for her talent in music and major achievements in Nashville. She loved acting in various dinner theatres. Ruby's affection for animals was known by all who knew her. She was very active in animal rescue. At Ruby's request cremation has taken place. Celebration of Ruby's life will take place at a later date.
