Greetings to the list, About 10 yrs ago, I had contact with a Frank Fraser, believed to be living in the Chicago, Detroit, Colorado areas. I only had an email address from him. He had contacted me back then, with wanting to know if his MacLean was connected to my MacLean. After he sent me work that he’d done, I saw plainly that YES, we were connected. I have lost contact with Frank Fraser and would love to connect again. Archibald MacLean m) Mary Nicholson His brother, my 2nd great grandfather was Donald MacLean m) Catherine. Donald was about 15 yrs senior to his wife Catherine, so she might be a second wife. Catherine was born about 1801/02 and two known children were born in 1835/38 & 1840/41, so I tend to think there were other children before these two. There is a 15 yr gap where she could have been having children, but who they are are unknown. My understanding from lore, is that Donald & Catherine arrived with two boys from North Uist, Scotland and the girl was born in NS. According to the census in 1871, only the boy born in 1835 /38 and the girl are named as living with Donald & Catherine. There was also a 14 yr old border living in the house, Daniel McKinnon. Was he a son of an unknown daughter who married a McKinnon remains to be seen. As I plowed through Frank’s work, I found some children married to my McDonald lines and vis versa. The McDonald line is via my paternal grandmother who married into the MacLean line. All these families came from the same place in North Uist, Scotland. The MacLean, McDonald, Nicholson & Robertson families. Some I can find in the 1841 census of North Uist and my line of MacLean had already left and was living in Cape Breton when that census was taken. Jane Nicholson of this list is also from this Nicholson line, well her husband’s line of Nicholson. Anybody on the list know of Frank Fraser who was living in the States…. Carol out here in Vancouver, BC
