Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Jerome and Ethel (Steward) Gerrior. Stewart was a loving, kind and generous man whose family adored him. We are heartbroken. He is survived by his son, Jerome, of Sydney; daughter, Darlene (Bill McGirr), and the light of his life his grandson Quinn Procyshyn, of Winnipeg, Man., and their mother Sally Carson; sisters, Ethel (Walter) Crawley of Sydney, Theresa Bell of Halifax and sister-in-law Rose Little. He was predeceased by his sisters, Alice and Doris, brothers Lavin, Allen, Leo, Greg, Alphonse, Vincent and David. Cremation has taken place. A private family ceremony is planned for a later date. Shirley Jean McLean Born In: Florence Passed in: Florence Passed on: April 1st, 2016 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loved one, Shirley, on Friday, April 1, 2016, at the ICU at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. She was the daughter of the late William and Lillian (Mercer) MacIntyre of Florence. Shirley was extremely well known in her community of Florence, and beyond. She served for many years on the Board of Stewards, and was a faithful member of the choir of Wilson United Church, Florence. She worked diligently as a volunteer of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Florence Fire Department, serving in the capacity of president. Shirley will also be remembered for her cooking skills, and the beautiful gardens of flowers and shrubbery that she tended to with such love and tendered hands. Shirley leaves behind to mourn her husband Adrian, her beloved daughter Donalda (Jack) Bradley, Sydney Mines, and her treasured granddaughter Kristina (Andre) Bradley, Kitchener Waterloo. She is also survived by her sister and brothers, Violet, John (Kay), Lorne (Barbara) and Arthur, all of Florence, Roddie (Joyce), Trenton, William (Dorothy), Bowmanville, Ont., Bryne (Lois), Springhill, and Albert (Ken), Dartmouth, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Shirley is also survived by her only aunt and namesake, Shirley (Max) Voutier, Sydney Mines. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Gary. Cremation has taken place. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at 11 a.m. in Carman United Church, Sydney Mines, with Rev. Nick Phillips officiating. Eva Morris Born In: Sydney Mines Born: December 7th, 1946 Passed in: Sydney Mines Passed on: April 1st, 2016 We regret to announce the passing of Eva Morris, on Friday April 1, 2016, at the Northside General Hospital, Sydney Mines, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Sydney Mines on Dec. 7, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Bill Ferneyhough and Nora Morris, along with her stepfather Joe Morris. She was a member of Trinity Anglican Church, Sydney Mines. Eva had many past times she enjoyed, she loved playing cards, especially 45s, dancing, and making homemade wine. But her favorite pastime of all was spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Clayton Morris, daughter Wanda (Sheldon) MacDonald, son Robert (Tracy) MacMullin, along with her grandchildren, Brian, Samantha, Kelsey, Jordan and Katelyn, sister Rhea (Ben) Long and brothers George (Patsy) Ferneyhough and Kevin Bragg, sisters-in-law, Marie (Ed) Perrier, N.L., and Alice (Freddy) Muise, Alta., and a special aunt, Marg Dandy. Besides her parents, Eva was predeceased by her husband George MacMullin, brother Ray Ferneyhough and sister-in-law Elaine Ferneyhough. The family would like to thank Dr. Patrick O’Grady and the nurses and staff of 5 East at the Northside General Hospital. Visitation for the late Eva Morris will be held today (Monday, April 4) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St. Sydney Mines. A funeral to celebrate her life will be held Tuesday, April 5, at 11 a.m. in Trinity Anglican Church, Sydney Mines with Rev. Stacey LeMoine officiating. David Stirling Hutchison Born In: Sydney Born: May 10th, 1982 Passed in: North Sydney Passed on: March 31st, 2016 It is with heavy hearts that we regret to announce David’s sudden passing on Thursday, March 31, 2016. David was born on May 10, 1982, at St. Rita’s Hospital, Sydney to parents Dr. Mary Hutchison and the late Wayne Hutchison. David grew up in North Sydney and attended Seton Elementary School and Memorial High School where he was lucky enough to meet lifelong friends Tommie and Michael Walsh. He was an individual with a very creative mind and loved his music and movies. One of David’s favourite past times was spending many happy summers at the family cabin in Inlet Baddeck surrounded by family and friends. He will be remembered as someone with a gentle heart which he showed to all those that came to know him. David will be deeply missed by his mother Dr. Mary Hutchison, also by uncles Peter Golding, St. John’s, N.L., Donnie (Heather) Anderson, Baddeck, aunts Shelly Anderson, (Stuart MacDonald), Sydney, Donna Anderson, Halifax, by cousins Kristopher Anderson, Jennifer Anderson, Cameron Anderson. David was predeceased by his father Wayne Hutchison, his sister Jane Hutchison and his uncle Charlie Anderson. Visitation for David will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday at St. Matthew Wesley United Church, North Sydney with Marjorie Serafinus officiating. Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery, Baddeck at a later date. Family flowers only by request. Memorial donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Mental Health for Youth, Sydney. Gary Hoeg Passed on: April 1st, 2016 It is with heavy hearts that the family of Gary Chester Hoeg announce his unexpected passing on April 1, 2016 in Sydney at 59 years of age. Predeceased by his father Cyril, Gary left behind to mourn his mother Rose, wife Colleen daughters April LaBlance, Brenda MacDougall and Ashley Lillington as well as seven grandchildren, four brothers, three sisters and numerous other relatives and friends. There will be a benefit dance in Gary’s honour at the Sydney Mines Legion on Saturday, April 16 starting at 9 p.m. Cremation will take place.
