It is with sad regrets and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother and nana, Lorraine, age 81, on Monday, March 21st, 2016, at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Cheticamp. Born in Meat Cove on October 19th, 1934, she was the youngest daughter of the late Simon George and Marcella (MacEachern) MacLellan. Lorraine was a doting daughter who took pride in hard work and her faith in God, which she learned at a young age. Being faced with many hardships, she showed her true strength and never lost her faith. Lorraine faithfully cared for her family and friends through delicious cooking, her sense of humour, and her beautiful outlook on life. You could always find Lorraine spending time with nature, whether it was in her garden, or with the birds. Now that she is gone, bird seed and Tetley Tea will have a real drop in sales. Our angel mother, known as “Auntie” to many, always reminded us to put our best foot forward, and wants us all to remember that we come from good stock! Married for 58 years, Lorraine and Archibald shared a great love for their children Derrick, Meat Cove; Brenda (Steve), Hamilton, ON; Heather (Juanita), Cheticamp; and Rachel (Charlie), Cheticamp; grandchildren Cassidy (Zoel), Cheticamp; Riley and Braeden, Cheticamp; and great-granddaughter Ember Raine. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her son Robert Stewart; sisters Flora MacLellan, Bessie Fraser, Catherine Chamberlain, Marcella MacLeod, Veronica Fraser, Margaret MacIsaac, Emma Hines and Janet Sisson; and brothers D.A., Allan, Hector, Francis, Kelly and George. As per Lorraine’s wishes, there was be no visitation. A funeral Mass celebrating her life took place Monday, March 28th, 2016, in St. Margaret’s of Scotland Church, with Fr. Lazarus Guria officiating. The burial will be in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lorraine’s memory may be made to St. Margaret’s Cemetery, or the Canadian Wildlife Federation.
