Born in Margaree, N.S., she was the daughter of the late Roy and Jane (Burton) Phillips of Baddeck Bridge. Eva loved to bake and prepared many delicious meals for her family and friends over the years. She is survived by her sons, Bob (Nancy) Davis, Len (Pauline) Davis; daughters, Claudia (Danny) Dionne, Kaye (Shane) Toms, Peggy (Keith) Long, Linda (Ken) Flynn; as well as 18 grandchildren; sister Katherine (Ewen) MacLean. Eva was predeceased by her loving husband Richard Davis, son Roy Davis, granddaughter Alicia Toms, and great-granddaughter Alice Krivas. Cremation has taken place. There will be no funeral or wake, there will be graveside service at a later date this summer. Many thanks to her Alderwood family, Mom was so well cared for and most of all loved. Eleazor Kirton Passed in: Whitney Pier Passed on: April 20th, 2016 It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather, Eleazor Kirton, 68, on Wednesday, Apr. 20, 2016, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 28, 1947 in Sydney, Eleazor was the son of the late Harold and Annabell (Gero) Kirton. In his earlier years, Eleazor served the Canadian military as a paratrooper. He loved his family especially, spending time with his grandchildren. When he was not with his family, Eleazor was always getting into trouble with his brother in-law, Dougie Kehoe and good friend, Roy McVicar. Eleazor enjoyed life and will be missed by all who knew him. Eleazor is survived by his beloved spouse, Debbie Fong, his children, George, Melinda, Charlotte (Mike), Crystal (Don), Eleazor, Samantha, Alonzo (Bailee), Cyrus, Norman (Shannon), Darcy (Alyssa) and many grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Mary, Idella, Julie (Luke), Wanda, Joyce, Sharon, Lena (Dougie) and Annabell (John); brothers, Randy and Allister; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Besides his parents, Eleazor was predeceased by his sister, Charlotte and brother, Alonzo. Both the visitation and funeral service for the late Eleazor Kirton will be held on Saturday, Apr. 23, 2016 at the Pier Community Funeral Home, All Faith Chapel, Whitney Pier, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street). Gathering of family and friends will be from 11-1:30 p.m. with the funeral service to be celebrated at 2 p.m. with Patriarch Vincent Waterman 1st officiating. Following the service light refreshments will be served in the reception area. A private family interment will take place in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens at a later date. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home. “Rest In Peace” Jason David Young Born In: North Sydney Born: October 31st, 1986 Passed on: April 18th, 2016 With broken hearts and deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend, Jason David Young, age 29, on Monday, April 18, 2016. Born in North Sydney on Oct. 31, 1986, Jason was the son of Wendy (Ivey) and Wayne Young. He worked in construction as a Red Seal Electrician. Jason had a great sense of adventure and loved spending his time outdoors. He enjoyed snowboarding, hockey, camping, and spending time on the water with his boys. His most recent endeavor was learning to scuba dive. He had a passion and talent for music which was evident when he played his guitar. Above all else, the most important thing in his life were his family and friends. Nothing meant more to Jason than spending time with the people he cared about. From trips to the gym with his father, summer days spent in Ingonish with his friends, nightly walks with his dog Penny, having long talks with his beloved mom and looking out for his little sister. He will forever be remembered for his contagious smile, impeccable sense of style, comforting bear hugs and his heart of gold. Besides his parents, Wendy and Wayne; Jason is survived by his sister, Kelsey (Brett); his girlfriend and love of his life, Terri-Lynn Ivey; his maternal grandfather, Donald Ivey, North Sydney; his paternal grandparents, David and Elsie Young, Little Bras d’Or; special aunt, Charlene Marsh and special uncle, Ronnie Ivey; several cousins, aunts and uncles and his three very close and special friends, Matthew Boudreau, Andre MacDougall and Kevin Jr. Marsh. He was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Esther Ivey and uncle, David 'Archie' Ivey. A gathering of close family and friends will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday in the W.J. Carolyn Elizabeth (Clyke) MacNeil Passed in: Truro, Canada Passed on: April 19th, 2016 Carolyn Elizabeth (Clyke) MacNeil, age 59, Truro passed away peacefully on April 19, 2016, in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro surrounded by her loving family and friends. She is survived by her husband, George Clyke; sons, Don Bates (Bobbie-Jo), Darren Clyke (Stephanie), Gordie Clyke (Joye), Frank Webb (Star); daughter, Theresa Paris (Terry); sisters, Norma MacNeil, Tonya MacNeil; brothers, Robert and Michael MacNeil; several grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Theresa MacNeil; brother, Joseph MacNeil. Carolyn’s most prized possessions in life were her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her giving nature, ability to bring people together and most of all her unwavering love for her family. Jean Marie Martin Born: September 1st, 1937 Passed in: Sydney Passed on: April 20th, 2016 It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Jean Marie (Landry) Martin. Jean passed away at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, on Wednesday, April 20, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. Born Sept. 1, 1937, Jean was the only child of the late Alfred and Mary Irene 'May' (Cox) Landry. Left to mourn are her husband of 61 years, William A. 'Arnie' Martin; sons, Lorne (Judy), Sydney and Scott (Diana), Hammonds Plains; daughter, Heather (Mylo) Paruch, Sydney. Jean is also survived by seven grandchildren, Brent, Kirk, Jillianne, Joshua, Kyla, Rebecca and Nicholas; one great-grandchild, Sophia. During her early years of marriage, Jean stayed at home with her children. Later, she enjoyed a career at Young's Sight and Sound in Sydney for more than 20 years. Jean will be fondly remembered for her quick wit and warm heartedness. She devoted her life to her children, and later, her grandchildren. She loved her family selflessly. The family would like to sincerely thank the doctors and nursing staff of the ICU and unit 4B of the CBRH. They would also like to thank Dr. Carol Critchley, family physician, Jean's special caregivers and her close friends, Ross and Yvonne MacGregor for their care and compassion. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Sydney Memorial Chapel. As per Jean's wishes, there will be no visitation. A private family service will take place with interment at a later date.
