Hall where he learned the working, joys and sorrows of the Cape Breton coal miners. When not running errands for the executive he would listen intently to the current issues and spent the next several years grooming himself to be a coal miner, as well as an advocate for their concerns. He severed as president of local 4520 UMW helping his fellow miners in times of strife and sorrow. Greg also worked on the Workers Compensation Board in Halifax. Greg was well known in the sports circle starting from Little League, continuing on with intermediate ball to Senior A Softball. Greg coached and played for many teams.
