    1. [NS-CB] Surname Fralick/Frolig/Froelich at Louisburg?????????
    2. Barbara Meredith
    3. Hello to this list, this is my first post and I am looking for information on any Foreign Protestants that were at early Louisburg circa 1751/52/53. When the Foreign Protestants were in Halifax prior to their move to Lunenburg, they were offered land and animals at Louisburg by the French. Some of those settlers took them up on that offer, and I am wondering if there is a list of the ones that did. I am especially looking for the surname Frolig/Fralick/Froelich, but would appreciate any names that you know of. Thanks, Barb in Alberta +-------------------STEM Applications NET---------------------+ |All email is Virus checked with: Avast! 1. [NS-CB] Lauchlan Mór- Catalone
    2. Bob McVicar
    3. I would like to learn more about a Lauchlan Mór (or Big Lauchlan) who married a daughter of my great-great-great grandfather, Big Red Neil MacVicar (Niall Ruadh Mór) and his second wife Sarah (or Marion) Nicholson. Neil was from the isle of Vallay near North Uist in the Western Hebrides and settled on Clarke's Road, Catalone in 1830. It is quite possible that Lauchlan also came from North Uist and settled in the Catalone area - I have seen his name mentioned in notes written in the late 1920s that refer to many of the settlers around Catalone. Lauchlan Mór's sister married another of my gr gr gr grandfathers, Donald Ban MacDonald, who was one of the first settlers from North Uist in Long Beach (near Cow Bay or Port Morien). Donald Ban was the son of Iain Ban and the brother of Donald Og and Wild John, both of whom settled in Catalone. I've posted more information on my website: http://web.ncf.ca/as926/niall.html http://web.ncf.ca/as926/ffmm.html Bob McVicar Prescott, Ontario

    1. [NS-CB] Look-up? Please
    2. Janet E. Meleney
    3. Does someone have access to Allen Everett Marble "Death, Burials and Probate of NS, 1800-1850 from Primary Sources" and could do a look-up for me? Apparently, on page 112 and/or 360 there is mention of the will of John Maloney, June 1841 Sydney Mines. I am trying to identify this man. So I have 2 questions: --what kin, or other identification data, are listed? --if I want to access the original or the whole probate record, where is it currently kept? Thanks muchly. 1. [NS-CB] Volunteers Needed for Cape Breton Burial Index Project
    2. Bob Hegerich
    3. Hi All: By way of explanation, I am primarily a SLAUENWHITE, HUBLEY, and WHITMAN researcher, which means that my NS relatives lived somewhere other than on Cape Breton Island. However, there are enough members of these clans who lived on Cape Breton, particularly in Cape Breton County, so that manually searching through the Cape Breton County cemetery listings to find one of same has become increasingly frustrating. Therefore, I have started to construct an Index of people buried in those Cape Breton County cemeteries appearing on the Cape Breton GENWEB site. I have already done about five cemeteries, but when I ran into the first ~2,000 person cemetery, it dawned on me that, if I do this all by myself, it will take a while. But it also occurred to me that, if some number of eager volunteers would be willing to help, perhaps a Cape Breton County Burial Index could get done before I become totally senile. So, the purpose of this note is to ask if any would be willing to help produce said index. The way it works is that, for a given cemetery, I would provide an Excel spreadsheet that has a given inscription in each row. What a volunteer would do is extract the surname and given name for each individual in the inscriptions in the cemetery listing and create a row entry for that person. The end product--a finished index of persons buried in Cape Breton County who appear in the various cemetery listings on the cape Breton GENWEB site--would be placed on the Cape Breton GENWEB site and would be freely downloadable. [Yes, the coordinator of the Cape Breton GENWEB site has been contacted and is all for it.] So, if you would be interested in helping, please advise. Thanks. -----Bob H-----
