    3. Hi, Not genealogy....just a time to remember. Remembrance Day, Tuesday Nov 11 2014 is just two days away when many attend memorial events and stop what we are doing at 1100 AM for two minutes to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Please take a couple of minutes to have a look at the following video clip on U-tube, dealing with those that returned with unseen disabilities and suffer in quiet. The clip has pictures of Canadians, Americans, British and others that served. It was written by J. P. Cormier but applies to any country. The link was posted by Bob on the Glasgow, Scotland mail list. Bill C. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wq0X0bwMprQ

Margaret was born in the Port Hood Lighthouse on December 26, 1928, to Angus J. and Mary Ann (Gillis) MacDonell. Margaret attended Port Hood Academy. She graduated from St. Joseph's Convent, Mabou and then went on to graduate from St. Joseph's School of Nursing, Glace Bay. Margaret's calling as a nurse showed her true passion to help others throughout her lifetime. Margaret, with her big heart, cared so deeply and unselfishly for all her family and community, especially her sister Theresa. Margaret lived and worked in Montreal for over 30 years where her home was a destination and gathering place for all travelers. She would make a sleeping space for all, no matter the number, tour her company around Montreal, drive home to Cape Breton with a car full of eager nieces, nephews and grand nieces and then display her hospitality all over again in her Cape Breton home. She would always listen with enthusiasm about the adventures and life experiences of all those she encountered. She had many stories to share as she traveled throughout North America, the Caribbean, and European countries. Margaret was predeceased by her parents Angus J. and Mary Ann; brothers, Donald Alex (Catherine) and Vesty and brother- in- law, John Campbell; two nephews and one grand nephew. She is survived by her brothers, Blaise (Mary Lou), Johnnie (Jeanette); sisters, Annie Mae (Angus Bernard), Theresa and Bea and sister-in- law Magdeline MacDonell. She is also survived by 31 nieces and nephews; 66 grandnieces and nephews; two great grand nieces, and two long-time friends from Montreal Trés Lowry and Mikki Landry. Mom was born on January 7, 1919 on Victoria Road, Dunvegan, Inverness Co, the daughter of Roderick "Rod Rory Archie" and Katie (MacDougall) MacLennan. After graduating from Provincial Normal College, mom taught school in several areas of Inverness County. She was a dedicated member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, S.W. Florence moved to Antigonish in 1993 where she lived an active life until this year when it was deemed that assisted living would best provide for mom's needs, she was so fortunate to be placed in the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home where she happily lived and made so many new and dear friends, until her passing. Throughout her life mom enjoyed walking, travelling, sewing, gardening, crossword puzzles, playing bridge and auction, she was an avid reader, an awesome cook and baker, picked and cooked every berry you could imagine, she had a keen interest in genealogy and the Gaelic language, commenting often, "a story sounds so much better in Gaelic". She enjoyed social gatherings of all kinds especially when family and friends were present. Mom sang with the Inverness County Gaelic singers enjoying many years of fun and laughter with this close knit group. She was well known for her strong faith, positive outlook on life and great sense of humor. Mom is survived by her children, Clarry (Donna), Burlington, Ont.; Rhoda (Bill Lawlor), Bedford; Gus (Debbie), Truro; Danny (Carla), Halifax; Debi (Arnie Farrell), Antigonish. 1. [NS-CB] Update: Cape Bretoners in World War One website
    2. Wayne Macvicar via
    3. I have just completed an update to my Cape Bretoners in World War One <https://sites.google.com/site/cbinww1/>website. The site now includes enlistments to the end of 1915. It contains an additional 557 individuals for a total of 2732. The time between updates this time has been exceptionally long due to the increasing amount of information going online, in particular Library and Archives Canada, which I am trying to include in my database. Hopefully the next update will come much sooner. The website is still limited to a nominal roll and chronology but in time I hope to include as much detail as I can find on each individual. I invite everyone to have a look at my site and if they have any information they would like to share to fill out the form I have provided on my general Cape Bretoners at War <https://sites.google.com/site/cbatwar/> site. Your input is very much appreciated. Lynn was predeceased by our parents William Patrick and Paulina Teresa (nee Vallas) Wade in 1991 and 1998 respectively. She was born in Cape Breton Island, which is a place she never truly left. Lynn lived and worked in Nova Scotia, Manitoba, Alberta and lastly, Ontario where she had resided for almost 30 years, primarily in Oakville. She is a graduate of Acadia University where she received her BSc degree. Lynn enjoyed politics from the time she could vote. She was an active member of the Liberal Party, federally and provincially and also participated in municipal politics over the years. Lynn spent her summers in Oakville as a teenager with some of our cousins and loved Ontario, making the circle complete after so many years. Lynn was a dedicated, hardworking and longstanding employee of CEC Controls in Burlington. She was an active volunteer with the Ontario Equestrian Association and the Ontario Combined Driving Association. Lynn will be terribly missed by her many friends, family and associates who must go on without the bright light that she was.
