Paul Campbell (Jule) Cameron Born In: Sydney River Passed in: Calgary, Canada Passed on: March 12th, 2015 Paul Campbell Cameron (Jule) passed away on March 12, 2015, at the age of 44 in Calgary. Paul was a brother, uncle, cousin and friend to many. Paul was raised in Sydney River, attended Riverview High School and UCCB. He played and coached basketball with great enthusiasm and dedication. Paul settled in Calgary in 1997 where he happily worked at the Aurum Group until his treatment took precedence last year. The family atmosphere of this company and his friends and co-workers there meant a great deal to Paul. Paul's smile was a beacon of love. His friendship was true and freely given. Paul's most remarkable characteristic was his natural ability to see the good in people he met and never have an unkind thing to say. In many ways, Paul was a private person. This might explain his love of motorcycles and the open road. At the same time, his travels with friends meant the world to him. His 40th birthday party in Las Vegas is the stuff of legends. His many trips to NFL football cities with the boys resulted in the most impressive collection of sports memorabilia imaginable. Paul was rarely seen without one of his many Boston Red Sox hats. Then there was the music. Paul was always surrounded by music. He loved all genres of music and always had the latest technology to play it. He provided the soundtrack for the many gatherings of his friends and was also known to bust a move in the process. Paul was also an avid concert goer and loved to attend large festivals and arena events with his friends. Paul brought great joy as the youngest child of Perley and Joanne. He will be lovingly remembered by his sisters Colleen (Peter Martin) and Barbara (Max MacDonald) and brothers John and Robert. He was predeceased by brothers Jamie and Ronnie. Paul's nieces Carrie, Brandy, Erica and Autumn and nephews Devin, Arron, Kyle, Chris and Josh were a source of great pride to him. He was known as Guppy to his grandnieces and nephews which always brought a smile to his face. Being asked to be Cassidy's godfather was one of Paul's proudest moments. Paul also shared a special relationship with his cousin Carol from Calgary and her husband, Tim. A celebration of Paul's life will take place in the Irish fashion on May 2 starting at 2 p.m. at Beanie's Bistro on 27 Main St., Sherbrooke N.S. A Riverview High School scholarship has been created in Paul's memory. Donations can be made by email transfer to [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]>. CAMERON With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dear mother, Mary Georgina (Gina) Cameron. Our blue-eyed angel left us peacefully on the morning of Sunday, March 22nd, 2015 at the age of 76. Born on December 10th, 1938, in Inverness, she was a daughter of the late Ronald Leddy (otherwise known as Boss) and Italia Frances Vataline (Tubetti) MacDonald. Gina is survived by her son Angus Ronald, Port Hood; her three daughters Mary Noelle (Milo), Bedford; Denise Maureen (Todd), Port Hawkesbury; and Jennifer Sarah, Port Hood; grandchildren Cameron, Anna, Luke, Niko, JJ and Alexander and many nieces and nephews; sister Maureen (John) Cameron, British Columbia and brothers Ronald (Carol) MacDonald, Woodstock, N.B.; Daryl (Alice) MacDonald, New Waterford, N.S.; and Frank (Anne Louise) MacDonald, Antigonish, N.S. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Donald Joseph (Josie) (1998). Gina was a hairdresser and spent many years working in her shop set up in her home, making her customers look and feel beautiful. Raising her children was her top priority in life and having her shop at home allowed her to have the best of both worlds. Many times when you walked into our family home, you would be welcomed by the smell of fresh homemade bread because our dad would never settle for anything less than the best. Cookie tins would always be filled with homemade goodies made with love for her children and grandchildren and anyone who decided to pop in for a visit or a laughter-filled game of cards. In the fall, the smells of pickling beets, green tomato chow, beans and carrots would take over to help preserve the hard work of the bountiful garden our family grew. Mom enjoyed skating and long walks and even after her first leg amputation her determination showed through as she continued to enjoy her walks, even though they were shorter and not as frequent. After her second amputation several years later, walking was no longer possible but she continued to enjoy singing. She was a member of the church choir for many years, an activity she truly enjoyed and treasured, and we were all blessed to hear that lovely voice on many occasions. We have many great memories of our mom but the best memory of her will be her loving, kind, gentle and selfless soul. Gina’s family will receive friends at the Port Hood and Area Resting Place on Wednesday, March 25th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., with funeral service being held on Thursday, March 26th at 11:00 a.m. in St. Peter’s Church, Port Hood. Fr. Vincent vanZutphen will officiate. Burial to take place in the parish cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Inverary Manor, Inverness or to St. Peter’s Parish Cemetery Fund, Port Hood. Online condolences may be made to www.invernessfuneralhome.com <http://www.invernessfuneralhome.com/>. TIMMONS Molly Margaret Patricia (Poirier) Timmons daughter of the late Sandy and Maggie (Cormier) Poirier, passed peacefully on March 20th, 2015 in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital, Inverness. She was a loving wife to James (Buddy) for 58 years. A caring mother to James (Kay), Charlotte (Ken) Dalton, Marlene (Paul) Holmes, Darlene (Angus L) Campbell, Murray (Bonnie), Edy (Rick) Hesse, Sandy (Cathy), Ernest, Wilma (Gerard Cummings), who blessed her with 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Faithful sister to Yvonne (Laurie) Lunn, Simon (Sylvia), Theresa (Neil) Smith, Ernest (Shirley), Charles (Colette), Lillian, Phyllis (Benny) MacKinnon. She is predeceased by daughter Marlene; son Ernest (in infancy); brothers Ernest and Simon and sister Lillian (in infancy). With an open heart and open arms all found a warm welcome into her home; creating a second home to many of her children's friends, expanding her family unit tenfold. Throughout the years her interests included bowling – real and digital – bingo, cards with her friends, and spending time with her family, although most will remember her for legendary and often sought waffles. With a growing family of her own she was known to host many a gathering to welcome a new bundle of joy or joining of two hearts. Demonstrating a little love can go a long way. Many will have their own memories, kind words, or favourite stories, all of which will be treasured to those that knew her. Visitation will be held in Inverness Funeral Home on Thursday, March 26th from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, March 28th at 11:00 a.m. in Stella Maris Church, with Fr. KENNEDY It is with heavy hearts that the family of John Archie Kennedy announce his passing at the Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital on March 25th, 2015, surrounded by family. John Archie was born in South West Margaree on May 8th, 1934 to the late Katie Florence (MacIsaac) and Archie Kennedy of Dunvegan. John Archie is survived by his brother Rannie Kennedy (Penny), Broad Cove; Hughena Macneil (David) Fredericton, NB; and Christine Kendzoria (Lloyd, predeceased) Azilda, ON. He is also survived by five nieces, 11 nephews and 17 grandnieces and grandnephews. A member of St. Margaret’s of Scotland Parish, John Archie was a fluent Gaelic speaker and enjoyed sharing stories, genealogy and wisdom with younger members of the family. He was also a member of the Inverness Pipe Band and was among the 100 Pipers at the Causeway opening. John Archie had an affinity for South West Margaree and the river, it having been his birthplace and the birthplace of his mother. He also enjoyed being in the barn trying to “reinvent the wheel” or at least a better gaspereaux trap. A welder by trade, John Archie was a member of Local 682 Pipefitters Union. He worked extensively throughout North America, but was happiest when working in Cape Breton. After retirement he shared his time between his residence in Sydney and his home in Dunvegan. John Archie could be found visiting family and friends or conversing at the local coffee shop. One of a kind and a friend to many, John Archie will be remembered for his kindness, honesty, understanding, intellect and wit. With the Celtic cross as his compass, John Archie knew his “true north”. “Lift us up to the ceiling one more time, Uncle Nockie”. Friends and family were invited to share their condolences with John Archie’s family at St. Margaret’s of Scotland Church, Broad Cove, on Wednesday, April 1st, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. with funeral mass following at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. FRASER Surrounded by his loving family, it is with humble hearts that we, the family of William "Willie" Francis Fraser (100 years) announce his peaceful passing at his home in the Highland Villa of the Inverary Manor, Inverness, on Sunday, March 22nd, 2015. Born at St. Rose, Cape Breton, on March 5th,1915, Willie was the son of the late Simon Fraser and Mary Isabel (MacKinnon) Fraser. Willie is survived by his 12 children Roddie (Docile), Port Hawkesbury; Maureen (Larry) Doyle, Earnscliff, P.E.I.; Billy, Deepdale; Clare (Cameron) MacQuarrie, Inverside; A.R. (Claire), Inverness; Wayne (Marlow), Winnipeg, MB; Gary (Lucy), Deepdale; Eugene (Sandra) Inverness; Doug (Carrie), Deepdale; Eric, Dartmouth; Kathleen, Aurora, ON; Gerald, Halifax. Also survived by 25 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Willie was predeceased by his loving wife Kathleen “Kay” (MacNeil) Fraser and by his brothers John Joe (Jack), Angus, Joe Archie and Neil and his sisters Theresa, Mary Anne, Annie Sarah, Cassie and Margaret (Stark). Willie’s heart was clothed with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, and a timely sense of humor. His love of his family, music, dance, the Gaelic language and song transcended generations and oceans. At the young age of 82 Willie was asked to bring back to his ancestral home (Scotland) his “close to the floor” traditional style of step dancing which he learned at the knee of his father, grandmother, and dream teacher. Willie was recognized for his contribution to the Scottish culture by: The Broad Cove Concert, 1991; Fàilte gu Ceòlas, traditional music school in South Uist, Scotland, 1996; Inverness Centennial Committee, 2004; Her Honour the Honourable Myra A. Freeman, Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia, 2005 and the Celtic Colours International Festival, 2007. Willie has been interviewed by numerous members of the media and researchers including several BBC documentaries chronicling his life as a standard bearer of the Scottish culture in Cape Breton. In all things he held his trust in God with all his heart. To the world, Willie was a Gaelic speaker, a Gaelic singer, and an exceptional step dancer as documented in the video God Bless Your Feet . Willie was a community man, a good neighbour and friend and always valued an honest day’s work. Willie worked on the land, on the sea, underground and in the forest. Willie often remarked that he “was never out of work”. This was due to his resourceful nature. Willie gave freely of his talents dancing at community and church picnics supporting worthy causes. In his home there was always “room for one more” at his kitchen table of plenty. Many friendly games of auction and 45’s were played at that same table. The temperature did rise occasionally on Saturdays during Hockey Night in Canada when Willie’s Habs would “face off” against Kay’s Leafs, but this was mainly due to the wood stove. Willie said he would reach his 100-year and as expected he achieved his dream(s). Willie lived his life by a simple rule,“ do not judge others, so that you may not be judged”. Willie lived a faith filled, joyous life and was loved by all who had the privilege of his friendship. Visitation was held at the Inverness Funeral Home on Saturday, March 28th, 2015 and Sunday, March 29th with Funeral mass following on Monday, March 30th, 2015 at the St. Margaret of Scotland Church in Broad Cove, Cape Breton with Rev. He was born April 21, 2011, and was the dearly loved son of Nicole Forgeron and Mike MacArthur. On the evening of March 24, 2015, our precious angel returned peacefully into the loving arms of Our Heavenly Father, and in that moment, Heaven shone brighter and more beautifully than ever before. His final days were spent at home, his favourite place on Earth, doing the things that he loved to do, and surrounded by beloved family and friends. Caleb was happiest when playing with his "big sisters," Ella and Aubreigh ("the girls"), and his best buddy, Kaden, all of whom he idolized. He was adored by his younger brother and sister, Lauchlin and Emery ("the twins"), who smothered him with hugs and kisses every day. All five of our children were the best of friends, perfect playmates, who together filled our home with the gifts of joy, love, and laughter. Since he was a toddler, Caleb had always embraced life's simple pleasures — throwing rocks in the water, shovelling snow, playing in the dirt, sailing in Grampy's boat. Caleb was a born athlete who loved sports, especially hockey and golf. From the time he was old enough to stand, he was shooting pucks and swinging clubs with amazing power and precision. Above all, Caleb loved superheroes, and he was a true superhero in every sense of the word. Each day, he would proudly sport one of his many pairs of superhero pajamas. He also had a large collection of weapons (including one very special sword) that he was not afraid to use. Thanks to Children's Wish Foundation, Caleb's dream to meet the superheroes in Disney World came true this past January. It was the trip of the lifetime for Caleb, and our entire family! It was there that we discovered his true love of adventure, watching his face light up as he conquered every roller coaster he could find. Most recently, Caleb enjoyed more quiet activities, like playing the Wii with Daddy and his big sisters, and special time with Mommy (story time, snuggles, and lullabies). He had the face of an angel — his bright blue-grey eyes that sparkled when he smiled; the slight dimples in his cheeks; his wavy, shaggy "rockstar" locks that later turned into the most beautiful bald head; and of course, his crooked little grin, which was best known to those closest to him. His outward beauty was equally matched by his inner strength — his undeniable courage and his unbreakable spirit were complemented perfectly by his beautiful heart, his gentle soul, his humble disposition. He was the best of both worlds, the perfect balance of tender and "tough." Depending on the challenge, Caleb could be gentle as a lamb — sweet and mild — or ferocious as a lion — with a fiesty spirit and fierce roar that could be heard from afar. Aside from his parents and siblings, Caleb is survived by his grandparents, Bill and Audrey Forgeron ("Gram and Grampy"), Charlene ("Nana") and Danny MacPherson; his great-grandmother, Marion MacLeod ("Nan") and "friend," Jim Snow; his aunts and uncles, Shelley and Terry, Peter, Michelle and Scott, and cousins, Cate, Jena, Carter and "baby-to-be Staroba" getting ready to make his/her debut (who Caleb affectionately nicknamed "Cow"), as well as many other "great" aunts and uncles, extended family, and friends who loved him with all their hearts. Caleb spent many months at the IWK Children's Hospital ("6-Link" and "6-North Clinic"), and the "Peds Unit" at our "home hospital," Cape Breton Regional, as well as some time at Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto. There, he captured the hearts of all the doctors, nurses, and support staff he encountered. These were more than just "institutions," as they thankfully became our "homes away from home," and the medical staff became our family, loving and caring for Caleb as if he was their own child. Your kindness and compassion will never be forgotten. A very special thank-you to Dr. Conrad Fernandez, Caleb's Primary Oncologist, and the oncology team at the IWK; Dr. Katie Kellock and Dr. Andrew Lynk (Caleb's pediatricians), Dr. Danuta Kajetanowicz and Dr. Robert Cohen (family physicians), Mickey and his Peds team — Andrea, Tara, and all the amazing nurses and support staff; the Palliative Care team (Susan and Kelly), all of the Child Life Specialists (Tracy, Chantell, Carol), and to Buddington the Clown, who could make Caleb smile on even the toughest of days. In the "3 & 3/4" years that he graced us with his presence, Caleb taught us so many life lessons that will comfort and inspire us in the very difficult days ahead. While he was taken from us far too soon, we truly cherished every moment of our time with him, from the big family Wish Trip to Disney World, to the long days at the hospital where we watched movies and played "guys," and most importantly, being at home, united, as a family of seven. He was the light and love of our lives, and an inspiration to all who knew him — a true warrior, who fought his battle, tirelessly and fearlessly, with such dignity, courage, strength, and determination. "You endured the fight of your life, Caleb, and you never gave up! In our eyes, you are victorious! So raise your sword up strong and proud! Fly high and shine bright! We love you with every ounce of our being! We are so proud of you, Caleb, and are honoured, privileged, and blessed to call you our son. Have fun in the playgrounds of Heaven!" A celebration of Caleb's life will take place at Our Lady of Fatima Parish, Sydney River, on Saturday, March 28, 2015, at 1 p.m., followed by a reception in the church basement. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the IWK Foundation, the Pediatrics Unit at the Regional, or Children's Wish Foundation.
