Kevin Gregory Kelly Born In: Glace Bay Passed in: Glace Bay Passed on: June 17th, 2015 After a short but courageous battle with cancer, Kevin Gregory Kelly, 66, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at the Glace Bay Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of Cecelia (Harrietha) Kelly and the late Wish Kelly. Kevin was the definition of a hard-working, genuine person who treated everyone he met with kindness and respect. He spent his early working years delivering groceries for Gordon’s in Glace Bay, then doing small engine repairs with Mackley Equipment, Blacketts Lake. Eventually he was employed for several years with Devco, until his retirement in 1999. Kevin spent his retirement years doing his most-cherished work, small engine repair, until his illness took him away from his dedicated hobby. He was well known for being reliable, hard-working and able to fix just about any type of machine. Kevin had a friendly positive attitude which he showed most recently with his battle with cancer. He took every challenge and obstacle with such ease and acceptance that it made everyone around him stronger. He truly appreciated the staff and doctors on the 6th floor of the VG Hospital, Halifax, and especially the staff on the 3rd floor of the Glace Bay Hospital. He referred to them as family. Kevin was first and foremost a family man. He married his childhood sweetheart, Anne Marie. Kevin and Anne Marie went on to have three children and five grandchildren, whom he adored, taught, enjoyed and most of all, loved. Kevin enjoyed summers with his family on Gillis’s Lake where there was an abundance of fun time spent with family and friends. His pride in the winter was building and maintaining a rink in our backyard for all children to enjoy. He was an avid Cape Breton Screaming Eagles fan. He always made time for the love of his life, Anne Marie, whether it was going to a wedding, a dance or just going out for dinner together. In later years, Kevin got to enjoy the honour of being a grandfather. This is where he learned the true meaning of the word, pride. He loved to spend as much time as possible teaching each one of them life lessons that would always be remembered. Poppy is adored and loved by each one of his grandchildren, Christina, Jami, Max, Shelby and Dakota. Besides his mother, Cecelia, Kevin is survived by his wife, Anne Marie (Wrice) Kelly, son, Darren (Beatrice), daughters, Lynette (Terry), Lisa (Ed), sisters, Peggy (Francis) Bonner, Pat (David) Hope, brother, Cotter, several nieces, nephews and his special friend, Mickey Baker. He will be truly missed by his little buddy, his dog, ‘Abbey.' Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The funeral mass, officiated by Fr. Norman MacPhee, is Saturday at 12:30 p.m. in Holy Cross Church followed by a reception in the church hall. 3. Hello, A request for contacts: Will and testament for an Alex'r (Alexander) Campbell, married to a Christy (Christian) Campbell, living then (1834) at Argyle Bay, now known as Whycocomagh Bay, CB. The order of listing the children in the will was as follows: - John (b. 1796) - Archibald (b. 1797) - Donald (b. 1800) - Marion (b. 1804) - James (b. 1809) - Alex'r (son) The will was lodged for execution on 13 Apr 1843, at Little Narrows following Alexr's death by James Campbell, son. Will noted as "proven" on 23 Oct 1844. I think we have been able to beyond doubt that John Campbell was the John Campbell, Superintendent of St. Paul’s Island, followed in his footsteps by son Samuel Cunard Campbell and later politician, John Malcolm Campbell. Can anyone out there help me with other descendants of any of this family? James inherited the property, so was likely there for at least the next generation ... Years of birth are based on OPRs for a family living at Gortendonell, Tiree between at least 1796 and 1810, and certainly a tenant/tacksman. Thank you in advance. Best regards, Andrew Campbell

    1. [NS-CB] MacDOUGALL family of East Lake Ainsley

    3. Hello,I am new to this list - and to the study of genealogy - I hope that I am posting appropriately.I have a solid family tree dating back to when my forefathers arrived in Canada, and I am trying now to determine where exactly they came from in Scotland, I am hoping that someone may be able to help me. What I know:John MacDougall (or McDougall) and his wife Catherine (MacLean) left from the Isle of Mull (Tobermory or perhaps Calgary) arriving in Georgetown PEI in the fall of 1820, they wintered there and then sailed to Inverness and settled at East Lake Ainsley in 1821 or 1822. They were Presbyterian, married in Scotland and traveled with their first son, Lachlin who may have only been a few months old when they left Mull. They then had four more children (John, Catherine, Euphemia and Mary - not necessarily in that order) in East Lake Ainsley. Lachlin later moved to Whycocomagh and had sixteen children, so I dare say this research may have been done by a distant relative. I have done some basic research to find a few Lachlin McDougalls born on Mull that match this time period, but none with the appropriate parents. I haven't had any luck finding the marriage of John and Catherine in church records from Mull. If any of you could help I would appreciate it very much.Thank you,Ian [email protected]

They moved to Gates Mills, Ohio in 1954, and had three children before Jane completed her nursing degree at Columbia in 1966. The family celebrated her graduation from Columbia with the first of many memorable trips to Nova Scotia, where she later bought and expanded a vacation house in Ingonish, overlooking the ocean. In her later years, Jane and her spoiled-rotten dog Vickie enjoyed whole summers on Cape Breton. Jane’s professional career focused on home health care. She taught community nursing at the University of Rhode Island, earned a master’s in public health from Harvard in 1976, and served as executive director of the Visiting Nurse Association of Rhode Island from 1977 until retiring in 1993. She lived by Dag Hammarskjold’s dictum: “In Thy service, not mine.” Jane was predeceased her husband Malcolm, and her sister Celia Atkinson Locke. She is survived by her sisters, Emily Stabler and Susan Lukens of Washington, D.C.; her son John Mackenzie and his wife Gail of Newark, DE, her daughter Jane Mackenzie Dennison and husband Allen of Rumford, RI, and her son Malcolm 'Kip' Mackenzie and his wife Sandy of Cambridge, MA and Nelson, NH., and many grandchildren.
