Then, after moving to Florence, they went on to raise five children, all of whom they were extremely proud. Our Mom grew up in a very musical family, and loved to play the piano. As for the legibility, maybe it was just the districts I was looking at. If you go to the ancestry site below, you just scroll down the page and click start browsing. On the right you click the province and then districts. http://search.ancestry.ca/ or Google 1921 Canadian Census and connect to the ancestry url. I am having a ball with it. Maureen McNeil

I was really surprised that ancestry released it. I have an ancestry.ca membership so I can see it but I thought the first time I logged on it said something about opening a free account??? 3. Yep, it asks you to register for $9.95 a month. I chose not to go any further because they will give you a 2-week free trial and then start charging. This is ancestry's way of doing business. I do know one can access it for free at the Public Library if they have a subscription to it. I've done that before. Yes, I realized that the explanation came from the blog you mentioned. I went and read the same thing. I don't particularly like the ending " ... and that's the way it is." 3. Vince, The writing usually is bad and in some cases one cannot transcribe it. Have you ever done a transcription the census? Why did Ancestry.ca get this contract on our 1921 census? 3. Thanks for your explanation Vince. BUT CAN YOU TELL ME WHY IT WAS RELEASED TO ANCESTRY.CA??? Did they pay for this privilege? Guess we all will have to go to our public libraries where you can access Ancestry.ca for "free". What was the purpose of signing a petition and writing to the minister when only 2,000 took part. Please correct me if I'm wrong but I believe more than 2,000 took part in the CBGHA contest to win monies for their genealogy project? Have a good one. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Vincent MacNeil" <[email protected]> To: "Lee Harvie" <[email protected]> Cc: <[email protected]>; <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, August 08, 2013 6:30 PM Subject: Re: [NS-CB] Census 1921 On-line > Hello everyone, > > If you go to this link: > > http://genealogycanada.blogspot.ca/2013/08/the-1921-canada-census-will-be-released.html > > > You will see this post which explains things. > > Wednesday, August 7, 2013 > The 1921 Canada Census will be released August 8th > I have just received notice at 3:07 this afternoon (Aug 7th) from the LAC > that the 1921 Canada Census will be released to Ancestry.ca tomorrow > afternoon at around 2 pm Eastern Time. 3. Hi Trish, Is it Ancestry.ca you are sending your comments to? They certainly aren't "free" on Ancestry.ca. I for one wouldn't promote Ancestry.ca. I've expressed my concern to the Minister responsible for the release to Library and Archives Canada. 2. adding my 2 cents..........images are clear (ancestry.com) very disappointed with the writing and the writing over on many of the lines that have important parts of the info (for instance, apparently writing NS over the actually city born in) Lynn > From: [email protected] > To: [email protected] > Date: Thu, 8 Aug 2013 20:58:41 -0300 > CC: [email protected] > Subject: Re: [NS-CB] Census 1921 On-line > > The images I have looked at have been clear enough to read so far. 3. Hello everyone, If you go to this link: http://genealogycanada.blogspot.ca/2013/08/the-1921-canada-census-will-be-released.html You will see this post which explains things. Wednesday, August 7, 2013 The 1921 Canada Census will be released August 8th I have just received notice at 3:07 this afternoon (Aug 7th) from the LAC that the 1921 Canada Census will be released to Ancestry.ca tomorrow afternoon at around 2 pm Eastern Time. At first, it will be available, with the geographic index ONLY, free of charge, on Ancestry. Ancestry should be releasing a FULL NOMINAL INDEX this fall. This index will be available to Ancestry.ca subscribers for 3 years. At the end of three years, the LAC will get a copy and will make it available for free off of our census platform that was entirely redesigned recently. So folks, that is the story. It will appear tomorrow afternoon at http://www.ancestry.ca/census I would like to thank everyone for all the letters that were written to the Heritage Department, and the petition that was signed with over 2,000 signatures, and were sent to the office of Minister Moore. Thank you all. I can hardly wait ... 3. Hello Robert, Very good question. I ask the question why does Ancestry.ca/com have access to our records and charge us a fee to access their sites. Yes, Library and Archives Canada has a free site under collections something. Vince and others will probably give you the proper URL. Simply google Canada Census 1911 /1921 and it will come up. The whole of Library and Archives are being digitalized at a cost of 50 million/billion and we will soon have to pay until this debt is paid. Again, it is us taxpayers who will have to pay. Others, have been getting free Canadian information for a long time. Scotland People charges and I'm confident it is for their digitalization process. You tell me!!! It is us genealogists who transcribe and index the census etc., etc. With thanks, Margaret > From: [email protected] > To: [email protected]; [email protected] > CC: [email protected]; [email protected] > Subject: Re: [NS-CB] Census 1921 On-line > Date: Thu, 8 Aug 2013 17:43:10 -0300 > > Why is it every time I try to find the 1921 Census, they want a credit card. > Is there a free government site? > > Robert G. > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "MC LEAN" <[email protected]> > To: "Lee Harvie" <[email protected]> > Cc: <[email protected]>; "[email protected]" > <[email protected]> > Sent: Thursday, August 08, 2013 5:20 PM > Subject: Re: [NS-CB] Census 1921 On-line > > > > Guess they have to be transcribed by genealogists first.
