MacIsaac Lynn - Mr. Peter Lawrence MacIsaac Sr., 91, died at home Sunday evening surrounded by members of his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Johan M. (Jamieson) MacIsaac, with whom he shared 56 blessed years of marriage. Born in Port Hood, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late Allan and Sarah (MacNeil) MacIsaac. Mr. MacIsaac was a World War II veteran who served in the Canadian Army's Black Watch Regiment. He spent months in a Nazi prison camp after being shot and captured by German forces. He was liberated along with 261 Canadian prisoners of war shortly before VE Day. Mr. MacIsaac was employed for 35 years for General Motors in Framingham. He was a longtime communicant of St. Pius V Parish, where he was very active in many charitable organizations. He served as treasurer and secretary for the Holy Name Society and was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society for many years. He was also a Eucharistic Minister who continued to deliver Communion to homebound parishioners well into his eighties. He was also a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus, Valladolid Council #70 and an active participant in Habitat for Humanity for over 15 years. Mr. MacIsaac served for many years as a volunteer at My Brother's Table in Lynn. Mr. MacIsaac was a proud member of the United Auto Workers, Local 422. He was also an avid Red Sox fan. In addition to his wife Johan, he leaves three sons, Peter Lawrence MacIsaac Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of Lynn, John MacIsaac of Methuen, and Neil MacIsaac and his wife Sheila of Byfield, and three daughters, Monica Silvey and her husband Paul of Methuen, Mary Kalogeros and her husband Jim of Georgetown, and Anita Milka and her husband Bill of Rochester. He was also father of the late Johanna M. MacIsaac and "Papa" to 13 adoring grandchildren, five beautiful great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held from the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St., Lynn, Friday at 11 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Pius V Church at 12 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Jerry was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia, to Henry and Norine Ross. In his youth, Jerry was chosen as the sole Canadian delegate to the "New York Herald Tribune World Youth Forum", an international gathering of student representatives from 30 countries. He obtained the rank of Queen Scout in the Boy Scouts in Canada, the Canadian equivalent of the Eagle Scout. Jerry obtained both a Bachelor of Science and a Doctorate of Medicine with distinction from Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia. He met his true love, Heather Marion Pollett on a blind date, set up by her cousins Graham and Bill, and married on August 15, 1970 (later sealed in the Bountiful Temple). After a long period of investigation, he joined the LDS Church in 1976. He practiced in Family Medicine in Canada and ran both an ER and an ICU until a personal connection directed him towards Environmental Medicine. He beca me the founding medical director of the Nova Scotia Environmental Medicine Clinic and worked at the Environmental Health Center in Dallas, Texas for 12 years. Jerry was appointed to many posts including President of the American Academy of Environmental Medicine for two terms. He authored or coauthored 29 publications and made over 80 medical and scientific presentations. Jerry and Heather moved to Utah in 1999 and although he was hampered by poor health, he was involved with the Meth-Cops project, testified as an expert witness in several cases and maintained an active role in his faith. He is survived by his beloved family and friends: his wife Heather, their two sons Graham (Stephanie) and Andrew, granddaughter Kennedy, brother Greg (Sandra), sister-in-law Anne Pollett (Morris Walker), brother -in- law Dr. Harry Pollett (Dr. J. Anne), special friends Marsha and Mike Rapuano, Joe Jordan, Diana and Dan Paxton, Leon Potter, and Marian and Dan Sellers. Jerry was constantly he lping people and loved golf, learning and his faith.A memorial service will be held at the Mueller Park Stake Center ,1800 E Mueller Park Road, Bountiful, UT. at 11:00 am. 'Bud' Clarke, of Ashby, formerly of Waltham, died Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida. He was 84. Bud was born in Middle River, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia on January 13, 1925, a son of the late Daniel A. and Catherine (MacRae) Clarke. After finishing high school Bud earned his captain's papers to navigate inland waters in and around Cape Breton and became a ferry boat captain at an early age. He and his wife, Dolly K. 'Kaye' (Budge) Clarke, a one room schoolhouse teacher, were married on August 19, 1950 in Saint Andrew's Church in Neils Harbour, Nova Scotia. Bud and Kaye settled in New Campbellton, Nova Scotia after having lived a short time in Cape Dauphin. Bud is going to be remembered most for having spent more than fifty-nin e happy years with Kaye. They worked hard together and enjoyed life together . . . a simple life shared by family, friends, card games and board games. Bud was known as the family 'Scrabble' champion. Bud's work as a ferry boat captain in Cape Breton came to an end when the government built the Route 105 causeway bridge connecting the islands separated by the inland waters. In 1961 Bud and Kaye moved the family to Waltham where he became a truck driver for Lopez Trucking of Waltham where he worked until his retirement 22 years ago. After that, the couple spent many memorable and enjoyable summers at their cottage in Ashby and winters in Satellite Beach, along Florida's warm east coast. In addition to his wife, Bud leaves his children, Alfred J. 'A.J.' Clarke and his wife, Sandy, James G. Clarke and his wife, Kathy, Debra J. Auld and her husband, James, and Charles D. 'Boxer' Clarke and his wife, Judi, all of Waltham; his grandchildren, Jimmy, Danielle, Jill, Cassie, Kara and Travis Clarke, Laura, Elizabeth, Patricia, Abby and Julie Auld and Meghan Martin and her husband, Chris; his great-grandchildren, Isobel, Margaret, Emma and Lilly; his sister, Margaret MacLean of Cape Dauphin, Nova Scotia and many nieces and nephews. Bud's only brother, Flight Lieutenant Alfred J. Clarke, RCAF, died during World War II. Anna was born in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada on Sept. 30, 1905, the ninth of 10 children. She moved to Boston as a teenager and subsequently to Detroit where she met and married John Chester Hallett who worked for Ford Motor Co. at the time. Chester later went to work for the Jesuits at the University of Detroit and in 1941, with six children in tow, moved to the Villa Marquette in Omena as the caretaker. Anna and Chester had five additional children. Besides being a dedicated homemaker, she also managed to find time to volunteer for Social Services, The Cancer Drive and many church functions. Anna will be dearly missed by all who knew her. "Grannie," as she wa s known by many, was a very warm, loving and caring person. She always had room at the table for another hungry friend. Euchre, marbles and Tiger's baseball were three of her passions. She always had a dance in her step, a song in her heart and a joke to play on you when you least expected it. Anna was preceded in death by her husband, John Chester, and sons, Roddie, Chester, Bill, and Cyril. She is survived by sons, John Hartford (Linda), Ed (Shari), Fred (Amy), and Bub; daughters, Margie (Lawrence) Meachum, Dorothy (Vic) Bodeux, and Mary (Stephen) Stanton; 31 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. She was a resident at Apple Valley Center, Ayer, MA for two years. Prior to that she resided at Windemere Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Oak Bluffs, after having lived in Vineyard Haven for over 40 years. Born October 28, 1915, in Cheticamp, Nova Scotia, Cape Breton, Canada to Edgar Lockert Rolfe and Annie Catherine Aucoin, the third of eight children, she was the only one born in Nova Scotia. All of her siblings were born in Hartford, CT. A graduate of the Hartford Public School system, Annabelle helped raise her younger siblings after her mother's death in 1935. On March 25, 1939 Annabelle married Edmund F. Noke from Waltham, MA. During WWII while Mr. Noke served in the US Navy, Annabelle was full-time mother to their three eldest children. Soon after the end of the war, their fourth child was born. In the 1950s Annabelle began working for Raytheon in Newton, MA as a grid inspector, working her way up to supervisor and an active union representative. When her husband began his career with the Martha's Vineyard Cooperative Bank in 1966, she worked in numerous Vineyard businesses. She was a popular hostess at the Homeport Restaurant in Menemsha and the Shiretown Restaurant in Edgartown, and a salesperson in various antique shops in Vineyard Haven and West Tisbury. Annabelle loved to travel to Nantucket to see her sister Lee, and to many other places throughout the United States with her husband. A voracious reader, Annabelle was involved with the Vineyard Haven Library and served on the Library Board. She was very active in the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the Coast Guard Ladies Auxiliary, the Hospital Volunteers (gift shop) and the Ladies Garden Club. Hosting luncheons, dinners and parties were favorite activities where Annabelle was known for her tremendous cooking abilit ies, sharp wit and keen sense of humor. Whether performed live by her grandson Kenneth DeBettencourt, Jr., or attending the summer band concerts at Owen Park, or hearing recordings of Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles or classical pieces - listening to music and playing the piano brought her great happiness. Going to the movies, dining at Farm Neck or the Square Rigger, and riding in the car around the Island were other top pleasures. She was a member of the First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, in West Tisbury, MA, where she enjoyed a sense of community and fellowship. Annabelle is survived by son, William G. Curtin, Jr., Paul W. Curtin, Neil P. Curtin, Susan (Curtin) Copeland, Kenneth J. DeBettencourt, Jr., Roberta DeBettencourt Bateman, Sarah DeBettencourt Dingle, their spouses, 20 great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Dorothy Rolfe of West Hartford, CT and many nieces and nephews. Annabelle was predeceased by her husband, Edmund F. Noke, Sr. (1989) after 50 years of marriage, by her son, Edmund F. Noke, Jr. (2005) and by her granddaughters, Annastasia L. DeBettencourt (1979) and Monica (Hartwig) Noke (2011). She was also predeceased by all of her siblings - Leola Rounsville, Robert Rolfe, Gladys Gallagher, Edgar Rolfe, Shirley Danahy, Grizelda (Chris) Hadfield, and Lillian Tyner. All services will be held on Monday, July 8, 2013 at the Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home, Edgartown-Vineyard Haven, Rd., Oak Bluffs. Dorothy for many years was also a family day care provider at her home. She was the beloved wife of the late Paul A. MacDonald and sister of the late Alan McKinnon and John Stewart McKinnon. She was the loving mother of Paul A. MacDonald, Jr. and his companion, Robin Mcardle, of Waltham, Susan E. MacDonald and her husband, Patrick McGowan, of Waltham, John S. MacDonald and his wife, Ruth, of Manchester, New Ha mpshire, Karen M. Peterson and her husband, Kenneth, of Waltham, and Stephen J. MacDonald and his companion, Lynne Traskus, of Waltham. Dorothy also leaves eleven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. DiRico June 12, 1956 - September 21, 2010 Waltham Waltham - Mrs. Mary T. (Beaton) DiRico, of Waltham, died Tuesday, September 21, 2010 in her home. She was 54. Mary was born in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia on June 12, 1956, a daughter of Theresa (Campbell) (Beaton) Mooney of Waltham and the late Donald Beaton. She moved to Watertown as a child and graduated from Watertown High School in 1974 and from Aquinas Junior College in Newton two years later. After a five year courtship she married her beloved husband, Silvio DiRico, on June 3, 1978. They moved to Waltham in 1987. Mary had worked in the administrative offices at Waltham High School. She loved her family, friends, reading, helping others, laughing, travelling, cooking, dressing up, her TV shows, dancing, music, and relaxing at the beach. Mary was a parishioner of Saint Jude Church and had been a member of the Canadian American Club of Watertown. She also participated in Sunday brunches with her cancer support group as well as several dinner groups. In addition to her husband and her mother, Mary leaves her sons, Donald A. DiRico, Joseph T. DiRico and Ryan T. DiRico, all of Waltham; her step-father, Mervin Mooney of Waltham; her brother, John Beaton of Plainville; her sister, Joanne Burdick of Milford; her uncle and aunt, J. Donald Campbell of Waltham and Katherine Ann Hawley of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and several nieces and nephews. He was born October 14, 1929 in Glace Bay, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, the oldest of twelve children born to Ronald and Lillian Dobbin. Dan owned Richland Plumbing and Heating for many years and retired as plumbing and mechanical inspector for Allegan County and Kalamazoo Township. He served in the US Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. Dan is survived by his wife of 36 years, Ruthann, children from his first marriage Mark Dobbins of Atlanta, GA, and Stephen (Janice) Dobbins of San Antonio, TX and step-daughter Amy (Chuck) Rustenholtz of Kalamazoo; siblings Valerie (Raymond) McNamara, Ronald Dobbin, Mary (Paul) MacDonald, Carmel Scanlon, Anne (Tony) Landry, Margaret (Neil) Moran, Diane (Kenneth) MacDonald, Jean (Larry) Smith, and Paula (Larry) Orbell all of Canada; 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a brother, Gerard LeBlanc, who died in 1939, and a niece, Maureen MacNeil, who died in 1974. Paulette was born in Glace Bay, Cape Bret on Island, Canada, on March 28, 1945, a daughter of the late Edmund and Alvina (Belliveau) LeBlanc. She was a 1963 graduate of St. Bernard Central Catholic High School. Paulette worked as an Administrative Assistant at the former Fitchburg State College for 24 years. She also worked at the Westminster V.F.W. for many years. Paulette enjoyed knitting. She was a very social woman, who truly had a huge heart. She especially loved being around her family. She will be remembered as a very generous, loving woman. Paulette will be missed by all who loved and knew her. He moved to Lakeland in 1972 and opened Dan's Auto Beauty Shop actively working until his death. Dan has many, many friends and loyal customers. He enjoyed golf, fishing and very active member of the 2720 Club Lakeland, and Member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Lakeland. He is preceded in death by his parent's; three sisters, Margaret, Annie, Mary Elizabeth; four brothers, John Angus, Bernard, Duncan and Jackie.
