Bradford Gerard 'Brad' MacIsaac Born In: New Waterford Passed in: New Waterford Passed on: December 23rd, 2013 It is with profound sadness, yet many fond memories, we announce the sudden passing of Brad McIsaac on Dec. 23, 2013, at his home in New Waterford. Born in New Waterford, he was a son of the late D.A. Spike and Eileen (Marsh) McIsaac. Brad was a member of Mount Carmel Church, currently the Parish Church of St. Leonard. In earlier years he was enlisted with the Army Medical Corps and later, studied to become a mortician in Boston, Mass. Upon returning, Brad worked underground as a medic with Devco. He was also an owner/operator of various restaurants in town. Brad was a former member of the New Waterford Kinsmen and Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 15, for many years. After years of employment with Devco, he left the mines to further his education. After completing his undergrad at UCCB, he attended Dalhousie University, where at the age of 49, he earned his law degree. Prior to being called to The Nova Scotia Bar, he articled with B.A. 'Rocky' Jones and Associates and upon completion was employed with his good friend, Rocky, in Halifax. Brad also worked for Nova Scotia Legal Aid before venturing northward to Iqaluit, Nunavut, where he worked in various capacities such as criminal law, labour law and legal aid from 2002 to present. Brad was one of the founding members of New Waterford Community Players and was very involved in theatre. He directed and acted in many productions including Lost in the 60s, Hits of the Blitz, and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, for which Brad won Best Actor at Nova Scotia Drama Festival of Plays in Halifax. Brad was never at a loss for words and because of that, he was often called upon to act as master of ceremonies for many events. Once you met Brad you never forgot him; a force to be reckoned with and extremely bright. Kind and generous to a fault, he'd give you the last thing he owned. Born in New Waterford, she was a daughter of the late Hardy and Pricella (MacEachern) Sinclair. Missy was a member of the former St. Agnes Church, currently the Parish Church of St. Leonard. She was a 'stay-at-home mom'. During her first marriage to William Miller, she resided in Scotchtown and was a member of the ladies auxiliary. Her amazing personality and humour was felt the minute you met her. She was involved in her children's lives daily and made us all laugh with her quick wit and dry jokes. Holidays were her favourite; she decorated and sent cards to everybody for all occasions from Valentines to Christmas, which was her favourite time of year. If you met her, she made you laugh, feel love and had a gift of some sort. But the true gift was Mom just being Mom. She was an extremely generous woman who gave to many charitable organizations. Always giving, that was mom. She left her impression. Her hobbies were tied to her personality. From shopping on 'Home Shopping Club' to watching her old movies (by the way, you could not stump her on any old actress or actor), and listening to music of any kind and most importantly, making you feel good about life and love. Mom you will be missed more than any words could ever be written. Our hearts are broken but if there is one thing you taught us it's this, we know you are now happy because you are with your mom and dad and all your brothers and sisters. You are all together now. A special 'blessing' to all her beautiful nieces and nephews who loved her and know she loved you very much. Surviving are daughters, Ruth McNab (John), Donna Miller (Greg MacPherson), Evelyn Miller (Tim Perfect) and Shauna Tighe; sons, Shaun Miller (Martina Hall); brother, Daniel 'Nicky' Sinclair (Ann); grandchildren, John, Jason, Jeffrey, Jesse, Ryley, Tony, Devon, and Haley; great-granddaughter, Ella. Besides her parents, Missy was predeceased by her husband, Frank MacIsaac, brothers, Donnie Sinclair, Charles Sinclair, Raymond 'Mouse' Sinclair, Myles Sinclair, George and Joey Sinclair, sisters, Margaret MacNeil, Vera Nichols, and Thelma Noble. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be held Friday, Dec. 27 at 1 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith St., New Waterford.Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Lingan. Donations in her memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. 1. [NS-CB] A GENEALOGIST'S CHRISTMAS EVE
    2. Carol MacLean
    3. Cape Breton Deaths courtesy of CAPE BRETON GENEALOGY & HISTORICAL ASSOCIATION VISIT OUR WEBSITE - <http://www.cbgen.org/>www.cbgen.org NEW MEMBERS WELCOME A GENEALOGIST'S CHRISTMAS EVE (Author Unknown) "Twas the night before Christmas when all through the house Not a creature was stirring, not even my spouse. The dining room table with clutter was spread Stacks of pedigree charts and with letters which said. . . "Too bad about the data for which you just wrote It sank in a storm on an ill-fated boat." Stacks of old copies of wills and the such Were proof that my work had become much too much. Our children were nestled all snug in their beds, While visions of sugarplums danced in their heads. And I at my table was ready to drop >From work on my album with photos to crop. Christmas was here, and of such was my lot That presents and goodies and toys I'd forgot. Had I not been so busy with my grandparent's wills, I?d not have forgotten to shop for such thrills. While others bought gifts that would bring Christmas cheer; I'd spent time researching those birth dates and years. While I was thus musing about my sad plight, A strange noise on the lawn gave me such a great fright. Away to the window I flew like a flash, Tore open the drapes and then yanked up the sash. When what to my wondering eyes should appear? But an overstuffed sleigh and eight small reindeer. Up to the rooftop the reindeer they flew, With a sleigh full of toys and old Santa Claus, too. And then in a twinkle, I heard on the roof The prancing and pawing of thirty-two hoofs. Our TV antenna was no match for their horns, And look at that roof with those hoof prints adorned! As I drew in my head, slamming it on the sash, Down the cold chimney fell Santa - KER-RASH! "Dear" Santa came down looking like a wreck. Tracking soot on the carpet,(I could wring his short neck!) Spotting my face, good old Santa could see That I had no Christmas spirit, you'd have to agree. He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work And filled all the stockings, (I felt like a jerk)! Here was Santa, who'd brought us such gladness and joy; When I'd been too busy for even one toy! He spied my research on the table all spread "A genealogist!" he cried! (My face burned bright red!) "Tonight I've met many like you," Santa grinned. As he pulled from his sack a large book he had penned. I gazed with amazement?the cover it read "Those Genealogy Lines for Which You Have Pled." "I know what it?s like being a genealogy bug," He said as he gave me a great Santa Hug. "While the elves make the sleigh-full of toys that I carry, I do my research in the North Pole Library! A special treat I am thus able to bring To genealogy folks who just can?t find a thing. Now off you must go off to your bed for a rest, I'll clean up the house from this genealogy mess!" As I climbed up the stairs full of gladness and glee, I looked back at Santa who'd brought so much to me. While settling in bed, I heard Santa's clear whistle, To his team, then they rose like the down of a thistle. And I heard him exclaim as he flew out of sight, "Family History is Fun! Merry Christmas! Goodnight!"
