In the 1871 Census Lingan there are quite a few Young families and they are listed as Irish on the census. I noted the same thing with Daniel Young in the 1891 Census of Bras d'or...and I know for a fact he is not Irish. He comes from my LeJeune line. I am trying to puzzle this one out as in the Lingan Census there are: James and Mary Carey 30 and 40 years old respectively living with Michael Young age 72 and also William, Thomas and Alex Young living with Simon and Ellen Gothro. All the Youngs are listed as Irish. To me it seems not to be coincidental taht Careys, Gothros and Youngs are living together as they are common names in the LeJeune/Young line in Bras d'Or. Anyone out there able to clear this up for me? Are these Youngs truly Irish or is this just a census takers error...which are more common than the names together, in my humble opinion (IMHO). Thanks as always for any clarification or proof of either French/Irish ancestry. Thom

Thom from the Antigonish parish records George Young had 11 children baptised - six with the mother identified as Judith Lawler, four with the mother Julia Lawlor, and one with the mother Joanna Lawlor. Nine of these children appear on the 1871 census... there are also four baptisms listed for George and Agnes Neale. My second mix-up in my family data base is on George LeJeune s/o Gabriel Lejeune and Mary Catherine Dauphinee (variant spellings). In my data I have George married twice: m1) Mary Judith Lawlor b. 1829, d. ca 1872; m2) 9 Sep 1873; Agnes Neale b. 1845. In the book The LeJeunes of Cape Breton and Newfoundland, the two marriages are for m1) Julia Young and m2) Agnes Neale. I know from NS Vital Stats search that Agnes Neale was married to George on the date stated. Could find nothing on a second marriage. My internet searches leave me with nothing. My question is: Was m1) Mary Judith Lawlor or was it Julia Young and what children go with what mother? Again, thanks for the assistance. Thom Thom
Ok, back for more help. I have a few LeJeune questions so will post in separate emails. My DB is mixed up on two Lejeune names (that I found so far) and would like to set them straight. My internet searches and asking some of my family researchers came up blank so I need additional assistance. Benjamin LeJeune (Young) b. somewhere between 1804-1811, s/o Francois and Margaret LeJeune (my 2XG Grandparents) had many children. He also had multiple wives that I have listed from the book, LeJeune's of Cape Breton and Newfoundland. I have found that what is in the book is some what inaccurate. My data base mix-up has to do with the wives and children. >From the book Benjamin is listed as married three times: m1) Margaret Sullivan; m2) Agnes????; m3) Nancy Maclean First Question: Are these women all Benjamin's wives or is it just Margaret and Nancy.. Next Question: Of the 14 children I have listed for him, which child goes with which Mother? As always, Thanks in advance for your continued assistance. Thom
