Mr Gillis is right but there might be one thing that might save a little time even if it's only 45 minutes or so, that is I-90 toward Boston and then take Route 495 to 95. 495 skirts suburbs of Boston even more and I know for people going to Maine that is the way they would do it unless coming up from the south. Today I visited the Highland Village in Iona, Cape Breton and it was a wonderful experience. If you wanted an introduction to early life in Nova Scotia as well as a great explanation as to why many wanted to leave Scotland, you would do well to visit there. I have visited Fortress Louisbourg in Louisburg, Nova Scotia near Sydney in Cape Breton also. The Fortress is a recreation of a French fortress that really did exist in the 1750 ish time period. It was recreated from blue prints from the original fortress. The re-enactors are superb with their keeping in period for the person they are representing. The Cabot Trail is a wonderfully beautiful ride(two lane highway) though a Provinchial Park that winds from sea level to the top of French Mountain and down. The scenery is fabulous and we have seen whales of in the ocean when lunching at one of the rest stops. One the mainland of Nova Scotia I have stopped at Joggins and seen the fossil trees in the cliffs which astounded me. There is so much to see and so little time to see it all. But stop in Amherst at the tourist information center when you cross over from New Brunswick to Nova Scotia and get the Doers and Dreamers guide and a map and check out the brochures on the racks...the people who work there are kind and extremely knowledgeable about the places to stay and places to see. Have a wonderful trip, Kendra P.S. It takes me 6 hours from Boston, MA to Calais, ME where I cross over into Canada at St Stephen, New Brusnwick. And then 7 1/2 hours to Cape Breton from St Stephen.
