Hi Christy, I'm not sure about Ancestry. Have you checked the directories available online at LAC? Try this URL: http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/databases/canadiandirectories/001075-100.01-e.php and look at the drop-down list of directories you can choose from. The McAlpine directories for Halifax are available in the date range you mentioned.
