    3. Yeah, Brian. Ancestry is now a very good resource when used with discernment as any source should be - but to find a primary record in another country is worth the dollar a day. And access is free at the FH Centers. I think about how the records had to be obtained before the last decade of Internet. Living thousands of miles from "home", I had to rely on cousins and SKS and boards and lists like this, or else hire a researcher at even greater cost. Still do occasionally and it is worth the cost, too, producing what all the free" sites cannot... I thought there was technically such a thing as a direct descendant - as in a direct (Gilchrist) line through your father from the The Ancestor to you? Someone else, like a cousin, has a different (Gilchrist) direct male line to your Most Recent Common Ancestor. The yDNA is a genetic thread carried by the male "line" back directly forever - one way of potentially bridging iffy" records. Carol Harding -------Original Message------- From: J. You have instant access to a lot of oirginals documents, and therefore help to a) increase the accuracy of your own genealogy, and b) avoiding the perpetuation of millions of copy-cat errors that now abound on the :free sites" - however recognizing what amazingly great stuff is available for free line. Sorry this is just one of my pet peeves, just like the use of the term "direct descendant" drives me crazy (you are either a descendant or you are not - you are not descended from your aunts and uncles! Gee, I am going out for my morning Timmies - steeped tea and a couple of tim bits - total $2.02 per day .... Havea great day, eh! J.
