Okay, never say never, and never give up... I guess, for whatever reason, William and Amelia were not enumerated in 1901 as married... No IDEA why, but hey, at least now I've found out who your Maria REALLY is! A daughter mentioned in 1891 census, proved the key: Maud Euphemia Ernst, aged 19, m. Robert Samuel Cole inu Dartmouth, NS on 19-Dec-1902, he was 25. She was b. Preston, daughter of James and Sarah. Robert died 28-Jun-1949 at Fairview, Halifax, NS.He was widowed, so Maud died previous to him. He was b. Woodlawn, 16-Jan-1875. "Effie" Cole is listed in 1911 census as b. Jul-1883 I was thinking THIS may be your Maria, but still a bit concerned why William was listed as single in 1901, when he surely married Amelia in 1900!?!?!!!? Finally found Effie's death record, She died in Fairview as well, also in 1949. She died 13 Mar 1949, b. Halifax Co, NS, on 13-Jul-1883, d/o James Henry Ernst and Sarah Hirtle. Listed on death record as Effie Maude Cole. So, in effect, your Maria was actually Maude or Maud Euphemia. :-) Jared > > Well, I'm no expert on the ERNST lines at all, but decided I'd give this > query a shot.
