    3. Joseph BRITTON and Nathaniel BRITTON were both born in Rawdon, Hants Co. Joseph BRITTON, b ca 1803, died 1872 Halifax, 1st wife was Maria .... and 2nd wife was Georgina FENERTY. Joseph was a shoemaker in Sackville, Halifax Co. Joseph had several children.... from the 1st marriage Margaret Letitia (m. Edward HANCOCK), James (m. Catherine HAMILTON), Mary Sophia (m. Daniel SMITH), Rebecca, George and possibly others. Children from the 2nd marriage were William Archibald (d. 1887), Mary Alice (m. James HEFLER), Emily H. (m. Frank HEFLER), Wentworth Charles (m. Elizabeth FITZGERALD), and Nathaniel (d 1896). Nathaniel BRITTON, b ca 1805, d May 1887 was married to Elizabeth FENTON (1812 - 1892), buried St. Pauls Cemetery in Rawdon. Their children were: Henry (m Eliza Jane McPHEE), William, Mary Ann (did not marry), John (did not marry), Sarah Maria (did not marry), James (d. 1922), Elizabeth (m Thomas HOPKINS), Thomas (d. 1924), Joseph Winkworth (d. 1863), Emma Jane (m. Alfred Wm. CAMPBELL). Does anyone have, or know the whereabouts of, family Bibles for either of these families? Would like to obtain a copy of the births, deaths and marriages that were recorded in them. Norma

Norma, I know you probably have this already, but since I have BRITTAINs mixed into my lines, and both spellings are tossed back and forth, I thought it quite interesting when I found your Joseph under two death records at the NS Vital Records website: Things that make you say "Hmmm...!" Joseph BRITTON, died, 27-Jul-1872, Halifax, aged 69, b. Rawdon, s/o Thomas Britton and Kather.., of Rheumatic Fever of the heart, informant was Georgina Britton, wife. Joseph BRITTAIN, died 27-Jul-1872, Halifax, aged 69, at Provincial Hospital, of Prostatic Cancer. A Dr. Sutherland was the informant (no POB or names of parents). Suspect the 2nd entry may be a correction on the COD for Joseph, as it is the doctor's entry. Just thought it interesting in either case...
