    3. Hello all, Is there anyone there in Vancouver that would have access to the Vancouver newspapers for 1917? Looking for an obit for my great grandmother, Kate Logan MacDonald, died Sept. 16, 1917 in Vancouver. She was from Wallace area of Nova Scotia. Looking for any relatives mentioned in an obit at her death or after the funeral. Her mother Mary Jane Ross Logan was actually still alive in NS. I have Kate's death certificate and she is buried at Mountain View in Vancouver, but no actual newspaper obits etc. Thanks to all on this great list as always helping me move my family tree to completion. Cheers, Marilyn in Los Angeles

    3. If you do not get a look up directly, I used to live in BC and did lots of research at one of the South Surrey branches, I think it was Cloverdale. Try contacting them and see if they will look it up for you. http://www.surreylibraries.ca/location-hours/4684.aspx Besides that, Mountain cemetery is in the main part of Vancouver (maybe east ..). If you contact M. Cem they may have more info for you in their record files, like location of the grave. 3. Thanks so much Carol, someone in Vancouver has already offered to help me. Yes I do have the info from Mountain View Cemetery, and know where she is buried etc., but no newspaper obits. Yes, Cloverdale is a wonderful resource library, but unfortunately due to my husband's health I can't make my annual trip up that way this year to further the research. I have to say again that the NS list is the very best for help everywhere, including the US. 1. [NS-L] Ann MacDonald Craigen - Vancouver BC
    2. Ann MacDonald Craigen supplied some MacDonald genealogy data for the book 'Rawdon and Douglas:two Nova Scotia Towns by V. Duncanson. She listed her home as Vancouver, BC. In it she refers to the genealogy of the family of 'Iain MacEoghain Oig (John McDonald) plus the lines to 4 sons and 4 daughters, all who originally settled in Pictou County, NS in 1784. (pages 331 - 343) That my GGGG-GF, John MacDonald was a "Glencoe MacDonald" was called into dispute by Dr William Matheson, head of the Gaelic Dept at the Univ of Edinburgh in a 1970 letter written to Ann MacDonald Craigen of Vancouver BC and agreed with by Margaret (Maggie) MacDonald, Clan Donald Archivist at Armadale in a letter she sent me a few years ago. My own DNA does not match with that of any Glencoe MacDonald On my visit to Skye in 2006, they had some some personal correspondence letters from Ann Craigen to another person in which Ann Craigen was herself doubting the validity of the Glencoe descent she put into Duncanson's book I would be interested to hear from anyone associated with her genealogy research. I am especially interested in her personal research notes Ben MacDonald Sun City AZ
