    3. Bonnie, This MAY be overkill, but hopefully provides you at least some of the information you're seeking.... To get "started" found Luther listed in 1881 census, at Lunenburg town, NS: Luther (D.) Roth, b. @1848 (25-Oct-1847, in Pennsylvania) US His wife, Melisa (Melina), b. @1849, US Son, Paul Roth, b. @1877, US Daughter, Winifred, b. @1879, NS (Lun Co.) MAY have had a brother, George W. Roth, 1844-1925, who had a son, Luther, as well. This younger Luther is one who married Caroline E. Menchey, on 18-May-1897, at Biglerville, Adams Co, PA. In an 1876 Philadelphia directory, there is a "D. Luther Roth" listed as a student, residing at 216 Franklin. 1890-1894, Albany NY directories: "Roth D. Luther Rev. pastor, Church of the Redeemer, h. Lake av. cor. Western av." (this appears to have been an Evangelical Lutheran church) 1901 Pittsburgh, PA directory: ROTH: Rev D Luther 79 S. 24th (also at that location, Paul W. Roth, student) In actual fact, he was David Luther Roth. Also had a son, Carl C., b. @1888, PA. He was living with Carl in 1930 US Census for Beloit, Rock Co, Wisconsin. He was then 82. Retired preacher. In 1920, he's in Girard, Erie Co, PA, already widowed, living on his own, retired clergyman. In 1910, in Pittsburgh, PA: David L, aged 63, b. PA Melinda W., wife, aged 64, PA Marie C., dau, 26, Canada Ada M., dau, 25, Canada Catherine V., 23, PA Carl K., 22, PA His sister, aged 72, b. PA, listed as Mary Wagner. His occupation listed as "Minister, Grace Lutheran". Now, here goes... David Luther Roth, b. 25-Oct-1847, Butler County, PA, USA d. 19-Mar-1935, USA (perhaps, WI, however, he and Melina are apparently buried in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery in Prospect, Butler Co, PA) http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=roth&GSbyrel=all&GSdy=1935&GSdyrel=in&GSst=40&GScnty=2250&GScntry=4&GSob=n&GRid=37729936&df=all& s/o Lewis Roth, 1812-1886 and Lydia Beighley, 1810-1898 He was christened at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Prospect, Butler Co, PA, on 30-Apr-1848. He married Melina Wagner (1847-1910), and had as children: Paul Wagner Roth, 1877-1966 Marie Winifred Roth, 1878- Helen Christine Mildred Roth, 1881- Marie Constance Lydia Roth, 1883- Ada Miriam Joanna Roth, 1884- Catherine Von Bora Roth, 1886- Carl Crossman Roth, 1887-1965 (m.     3. After researching a bit for Bonnie on Rev. D. Luther Roth, I came across some interesting information about a book that seems to hold some historical riches, especially in regards to Lunenburg (not on that list, so feel free to repost this there. Anyway, the book title (see subject line) was published in 1890, and is quite fascinating. It's available through various booksellers in hardcopy and reprints, and also as a PDF file, for those more e-book inclined, it can be found at: http://archive.org/details/acadieandacadia00rothgoog There, it can be downloaded as PDF, also for ePub and Kindle readers. As a PDF it is just over 15Mb in size. Without Bonnie having posted looking for information on Rev. Roth, I'd never have discovered this little gem. Again, mostly focused on Lunenburg, but a nice reference for anyone with NS roots.
