    3. Here is a problem that I have run into. Frank and Caroline R (Patterson)Martin immigrated from England in 1885 and were in Nova Scotia for the birth of dau Emily in Jan 1886, Then they were in Maine Sept 1888 for the birth of Charles. How does one find any record for Emily Martin? Dot in NH

The only record for a birth in that period would be in a church record if she was baptized. You would have to know where they lived when she as born and the religion. You could write the churches that might fit and ask for a baptism record. The easiest is to use the birth date from the 1900 census. bob gillis
