    3. Can anyone help me find the origins of this John Hazel who settled in NS first in 1785: Thanks in advance for any clues: Dorothy Rafuse Dartmouth, NS _____ Trying to trace John Hazel who first appeared in Cumberland in Nova Scotia in 1785 amongst a group of men being given a land grant. He could have been attached to the British Military possibly at Fort Lawrence. It is felt it he was born in the United States and possibly left after the American Revolution, probably a Loyalist moving to Canada. He or perhaps another John Hazel was married to Priscilla Spicer In Cumberland County, NS in 1805, daughter of Robert & Priscilla Spicer (Chomondelay). A John Hazel received a Crown Grant (about 1816) in Port Greville, (Parrsborough) Cumberland County, NS Canada. He may have had a brother Joshua (pronounced Joshu-way). He may have had a brother, Robert H. Hazel. There is also a record of a George Hassell who married Rebecca Card after her husband Richard died. George and Rebecca were married in Newport/Westerley, Rhode Island before 1692. Could John Hazel be a descendant of George and Rebecca ? ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to LUNEN-LINKS-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
