Tuesday, May 29, 1951...The Chronicle-Herald, Halifax, N.S. CAPT. CHARLES BLADES BARRINGTON, May 28 - Barrington's oldest citizen, Charles Blades, died at his home at Barrington West, Friday at the age of 89. He was born at Oak Park, the son of the late Walter and Lucinda Blades. He was a member of Temple United Baptist Church and a life member of I.O.O.F. He is survived by three daughters, Edith (Mrs. Robert Watson), Brockton, Mass.; Lillian (Mrs. Carl Nickerson), Barrington West; Jeanette (Mrs. Henry Stoddard), at home; and four sons, Edgar, Barrington West; Coleman, Brooklyn, N.Y.; Gordon, Dorchester, Mass.; Belmont, Boston, Mass.; 7 grandchildren. His wife predeceased him about a year ago. Funeral arrangements will be completed following the arrival of members of the family. Interment will be in family lot, Riverside Cemetery.
