It's funny, isn't it, how many people will claim that technology today has made us less "personal" in our interrelationships, yet as someone who began his newspaper career writing obituaries for the Charlotttown Guardian-Patriot more than 20 years ago, I've noticed how much more personal information is included in obituaries these days. Back in the 50s there was barely much more than a death notice, and sometime scant information beond a name of the decased, date of death and burial. Now someone's life story can be encapsulated in a few paragraphs, giving folks in the future a much better idea of the character of the deceased. That's thanks to an internet that allows transmission of prepared copy rather than back in my day, when it had to be taken over the phone, tyoed up, typset, proofread, etc.....damned technology woulda put me out of a job!
