    1. [NS-L] River in Town of Digby - UPDATE

    3. Hello all After spending the better part of 3 days trying to describe/show/present the "mysterious" waterway we have been talking about, Jared Handspiker was able to develop a link of the area in question. Go to http://www.jedh.com/images/mystery_stream3.jpg The waterway that is most eastern is the "mystery stream." The one that runs between King Street and Queen Street. This stream has the same bearings as the stream in the 1881 AF Church map. Go to http://twelch.htohananet.com:80/DigbyTown.htm to see a portion of the 1881 AF Church map. This is the stream that was on my ARMSTRONG relatives' property back in 1881. It is very uncanny how the 2 rivers/brooks/streams match up almost identically. ************************ Now, from what I understand, that water way doesn't exist today in the south part of town of Digby? This map that is at the link (#1) is a "modern day" map, but we have no idea when the map was prepared. But if there is no waterway at that end of town today, I'm wondering why it shows up on a modern day map? And, we are still trying to figure out a name for the waterway and whether it had a name back in the olden days. Mysterious to say the least. ****************************** Link #1 courtesy of Jared Handspiker (modern day map copyrighted by MapEze Inc.) Link #2 courtesy of CathyLee Rudolph (portion of 1881 AF Church map) ********************* Thanks to all who are participating in this exercise. Richard

    3. I would suggest contacting the department of health as they would probably have all of the information for drainage of septic systems. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Richard Hardwick" <RiHardwick@comcast.net> To: "NOVA-SCOTIA" <NOVA-SCOTIA@rootsweb.com>; "NS ednet list" <NSroots@ednet.ns.ca> Cc: "Admiral Digby Museum Genealogy Department" <admgendepartment@hotmail.com>; "CathyLee" <mytree@eastlink.ca>; "Jared (Jed) Handspiker" <jedh@jedh.com>; "Robert Dunfield" <dunfield@tartannet.ns.ca> Sent: Sunday, July 15, 2007 8:31 AM Subject: [nsroots] River in Town of Digby - UPDATE > Hello all > > After spending the better part of 3 days trying to describe/show/present the > "mysterious" waterway we have been talking about, Jared Handspiker was able to > develop a link of the area in question.
