Tuesday,03 Nov 1942: MacDONALD- MacDONALD Saint John the Baptist Church was the scene of a very pretty wedding in which was the interest and good wishes of a host of friends of the contracting parties on Saturday morning October twenty-fourth at six o'clock, when Miss Mayse MacDonald, R.N., daughter of Mr. Hugh C. MacDonald and the late Mrs. MacDonald of Ardness, Pictou County, became the bride of Mr. John Roderick MacDonald, son of Mr. and Mrs. A.J. MacDonald, of Trenton, N.S. Rev.D.R. Chisholm, P.P.. solemnized the marriage and was the celebrant of the Nuptial Mass. Mrs. Hugh Ryan, Church organist, presided at the console. Miss Margaret MacDougall, R.N., of St. Andrew's, Antigonish County was bridesmaid and Mr. J.H. MacPherson was groomsman. The bride looked lovely in a navy blue tailored suit, silver fox stole, a navy blue veil trimmed fur felt hat and accessories in navy. She wore a corsage of white roses and she carried a white prayer book. Miss MacDougall was also charming in navy blue, with hat and acessories to match. She wore a fur jacket and her corsage was of pink roses. Following the sacred rites a reception was held at the Norfolk Hotel and a wedding breakfast served with relatives and a few close friends present. Rev. Father Chisholm proposed a toast to the bride which was responded to by the groom. Later Mr. and Mrs. MacDonald left by motor for Cape Breton and other parts of the province, the bride donning for travelling a navy top coat. On their return they will reside in Trenton. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Thursday, 05 Nov 1942: BLAKE- BAKER Before an altar banked with cybodium fern, cream and yellow Chrysanthemums and ivory tapers, on Saturday, Oct.17, in St. John's Anglican Church, Hamilton, Ont., the Rev.E.T. Holmes united in marriage, Vera Bessie, youngest daughter of Mrs. Baker and the late Ervin Baker of Liscombe, N.S., and LS, Charles William Blake, R.C.N.V.R., eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles R. Blake of Hamilton, formerly of Sarnia, Ontario. The bride looked lovely in a gown of triple blue sheer with shirred waist and full Bishop sleeves. She wore a small hat and veil to match her gown and wore a corsage of Rapture roses. Mrs. James Walker, bridesmaid, wore a silk crepe airforce blue dress with beige accessories. She also wore a corsage of beige mums. Mrs. Charles R. Blake, mother of the bridegroom, chose a black silk crepe romaine dress trimmed with diamente, wine accessories and a corsage of bronze mums. Mrs. Margaret Blake, Grandmother of the bridegroom, wore a black and mauve ensemble, black accessories and corsage of bronze mums. Following the ceremony a reception and dinner was held at the home of the bridegroom's parents for 20 guests. The young couple left for a short trip to Niagara Falls and Toronto. Out of town guests included; Mrs. Margaret Blake, Mrs. George Walker, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lynn. Mr. and Mrs. George Crawford and son Ernest and two aunts of the bridegroom, Mrs. Charles Harris and Mrs. D.
